Connor spotted the two security guards from a distance. They were standing in front of a girl on a motorcycle, talking to her. His expression darkened. He thought for sure they were trying to flirt with Lydia. She was hard to miss, after all, with that pretty face and confident vibe. Wherever she went, people noticed her.
“What are you doing?” Connor’s voice was icy, sending a chill through the air.
The guards, Brendan and Seth, both former military and now working for Jefferson Group, immediately straightened up. They took their jobs seriously and didn’t want trouble.
“Sir, we just wanted to ask who she was waiting for. There’s a rule, you know, no parking here,” Brendan stammered.
Neither of them could quite believe Lydia was actually waiting for Connor. In their minds, Connor was the kind of man who’d never be caught dead with a girl by his side. Sure, Lydia was stunning, but their boss was… well, he was their boss.
Connor looked at them, his gaze sharp. “From now on, even if she wants to bring her bike inside the building, you open the door for her. Got it?”
Brendan and Seth stared, wide-eyed.
Lydia handed Connor a helmet. “Let’s go.”
He took it, giving the guards a final warning look. Then, in an instant, the cold and fierce CEO everyone knew was gone. Instead, Connor’s tone softened, his eyes gentle as he looked at Lydia. “Alright.”
The two guards just stood there, stunned, watching their no-nonsense, emotionless boss climb onto the back of Lydia’s motorcycle and wrap his arms gently around her waist.
Were they dreaming? Was this really their untouchable, intimidating CEO?
It just didn’t seem possible.
The engine roared to life, and in a flash, Lydia and Connor disappeared down the street. Only when the sound faded did the guards finally snap out of it.
