Connor walked Lydia off the helicopter and right up to the stunned Damien. His voice was icy. “You better hope you didn’t hurt anyone.”
If Lydia had been hurt, Damien wouldn’t have made it out alive.
Damien’s face drained of color. He dropped to his knees right in front of them. “Lydia, I’m so sorry. I swear, I had no idea you were with him. If I’d known, even if you gave me a hundred chances, I wouldn’t have dared to shoot.”
Connor stared at him, surprised all over again.
Lydia?
He turned to Lydia, confusion clear on his face. “You’re the boss of Lydora?”
Lydia blinked. “Just in name. That’s all.”
This caught Connor off guard. He’d always thought Lydia was close to the Lydora group, but he never expected that, at her age, she’d actually be their leader.
No wonder the identity of Lydora’s boss was always such a mystery in the Triangle. It was her.
“Lydia, I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Connor looked so serious that Lydia matched his expression. “Owner of Mount Gemspire. Nice to meet you.”
Everyone standing around just stared, speechless.
Love really does make people act dumb.
Three years ago, Mount Gemspire was just a wild, rugged mountain. After Connor bought it, though, he totally transformed the place. Now it felt like a modern tourist spot.
He had new roads built, houses put up, and even set up a whole defense system. That’s why Damien’s team spotted Lydia’s group as soon as they entered.
All the rare, ancient plants on the mountain had a much better home now, too.
“Did you buy Mount Gemspire just for Vision Rejuvenation Grass?” Lydia asked.
Why else would Connor spend billions on a mountain? The Jefferson family wasn’t exactly into medicine.
Connor nodded. “That was the main reason.”
