“Yes, sir.”
Blake spent a lot of time at the local branch, building up his own network as he expanded business overseas. He had people everywhere.
Lydia, meanwhile, could tell something was off behind them. The enemy had arrived. They were coming in guns blazing, ready for a fight that would end only when someone was dead.
She hadn’t expected Blake’s person to show up too.
Viper’s team was tracking her by GPS. To them, there was no doubt — the car they were chasing belonged to Jonas.
Jonas had no idea he was about to take the blame for everything.
Bullets suddenly tore through the air, peppering his car. He gripped the wheel tight, relying on his driving skills to dodge death, weaving through the hail of gunfire again and again.
But the car’s body was falling apart, riddled with holes. Even the bulletproof plating wouldn’t hold out much longer.
Lydia started to worry she’d get Blake’s man killed. She slammed to a stop, grabbed a hidden weapon from the backseat, slid open the sunroof, and took aim at the tires of the cars chasing them.
Bang. One tire exploded.
Then another. And another. The sharp cracks echoed through the mountains, one after another.
Viper’s men finally realized they might have walked straight into a trap.
“Damn it, L’s got backup!” Rex, the team leader, cursed.
Jonas, still racing down the road, glanced up ahead and caught sight of Lydia in action. His jaw nearly hit the floor.
Who was this girl?
Lydia didn’t hesitate. She fought back head-on, sending Viper’s team into chaos.
Rex and his men stopped, ducking for cover. Rex grabbed his binoculars and focused on the young woman wielding the weapon.
Her face was glowing and beautiful, but there was nothing soft about her now. She looked fierce, every inch radiating a dangerous, icy confidence. Her dark eyes stared right at them, cold and merciless, like she was already looking at a bunch of dead men.
