Aiden’s heart was pounding. He still hadn’t gotten over what happened to Theodore and had zero desire to go through anything like that himself. Connor didn’t usually get involved, but tonight, Theodore had basically asked for it when he tried to get Lydia to be his girlfriend. The guy was lucky he got off with just a scare.
Lydia noticed how shaken Aiden was and couldn’t help but laugh. “Relax, I’m joking.”
Aiden just stared at her, mentally begging her to go easy on him.
Connor jumped in, trying to change the subject. “So, should we keep going to the lavender farm?”
The mood had definitely taken a hit, but he wasn’t ready to give up on the surprise he had planned for Lydia.
She was about to agree when her phone suddenly rang in her pocket, cutting her off. She checked the screen. Chris was calling.
Connor groaned to himself. Sometimes he honestly wished he could send his little brother off to another planet. Did Chris have to ruin every good moment?
Lydia picked up. Chris' cheerful voice came through right away. “Hey, are you busy? We’re in the middle of training.”
“Which track?” Lydia asked.
“Rush Bay,” Chris replied.
Lydia’s eyebrows shot up. “No way. We’re actually close by.”
“For real? Can you come over?” Chris sounded instantly excited. Their race was tomorrow, so tonight’s practice was kind of a big deal.
