Lydia’s eyebrows knit together.
She already knew Blood Oath’s people were in the Capital. Things had been calm for a few days, but it looked like they were finally getting restless.
She typed a quick reply.
[This is the Capital. I hope they’re not scared of death.]
She didn’t bother asking if Iceblade would be involved tonight. What was the point? She and him were on opposite sides now. If he showed up, they’d be enemies, no way around it.
Whether Iceblade’s warning was legit or not, Lydia wasn’t about to let her guard down.
She called Connor right away. He picked up almost instantly, sounding a little too happy. “Did you miss me or something?”
Lydia just rolled her eyes. “Put a few more people on tonight. I’ll come by later.”
Connor went quiet for a second, but didn’t ask anything. “Got it.”
She hung up and checked her phone. Ethan had sent a photo. Jenson was in it, getting dragged off a rooftop by firefighters.
[Lydia, the police have taken him in. Are you sure you don’t want to see him?]
Lydia texted back. [No.]
Jenson had been having a rough time lately. He hadn’t even watched the live stream of the French International Fashion Competition. He had no idea that the mysterious Miss L, the founder of LYLX he’d been desperate to meet, was actually the adopted daughter he’d always looked down on.
All these years, LYLX had supported Smith Corporation for no reason. They’d always had his back, and that gave Jenson and the whole company so much confidence. So he just couldn’t figure out what he’d done to make Miss L so angry, why she would suddenly cut ties and stop supporting Smith Corporation. Why was she letting them crash and burn?

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
