Her thoughts were interrupted when Milana showed up.
Sandy really didn’t want to open the door. But with Milana, she didn’t have a choice. If she left her out there, Milana might just throw her out of the house. That woman was capable of anything.
When Sandy finally opened the door, Milana actually smiled. For once, she seemed... nice.
“Sandy, are you studying?”
Sandy nodded. “Yeah. Did you need something?”
Milana hesitated, glancing around before stepping into the room. “You’re looking better. Has Soren mentioned when he’ll come see you?”
The mention of Soren made Sandy’s chest tighten. She looked away, trying to hide her frustration.
She had thought that when Jenson and Milana forced her to donate a kidney to Luke, Soren would stand up for her. Or at least stay by her side in the hospital. But once she was wheeled into surgery, Soren disappeared from her life.
She called him over and over, sent so many texts. It was like sending messages into outer space. No reply. Nothing.
After she got out of the hospital, she even went to the Lane family’s house. The moment they found out it was her at the gate, they refused to let her in.
She knew exactly what that meant.
When she first came back to the Smith family, she’d been whole. Now she was missing a part of herself, literally. The Lane family didn’t want her anymore. She couldn’t really blame them.
“You all know how the Lane family is,” Sandy said quietly. “They don’t want me now that I’m missing a kidney. I’m not good enough for them anymore.”
She was slowly starting to let go of Soren. In the end, he was just a guy. If she could inherit the Smith Corporation, she’d have her pick of men. Why should she let herself get stuck on just one?

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
