“When has Miss Lydia ever tried to steal the spotlight? She’s just so talented that people can’t help but notice her.”
“If she actually wanted attention, all she’d have to do is mention she’s Miss L or Melody Mastro. Everyone else would fade into the background.”
The servants’ whispers grated on Lucinda’s nerves.
So now Lydia was the sensible one? Did that make her the unreasonable one? How dare they judge her like that. Bunch of two-faced nobodies!
Before Lydia came back, they sang her praises nonstop. Now that Lydia had been revealed as the real Norwood daughter, they’d switched sides in a heartbeat, tripping over themselves to impress her instead. How disgusting.
Just wait. When Lydia finally falls from grace and loses everything, Lucinda is going to fire every single one of these fake, brown-nosing servants. She’ll make sure of it.
Since Lydia barely had any luggage, Kylie and Cameron decided to drop her off at Capital Med School first. With all of Lucinda’s bags, taking her to Capital College would be a much bigger hassle.
That’s when it finally clicked for Lucinda. No wonder Lydia hadn’t brought much with her. She’d planned the whole thing, just so their parents would take her to Capital Med School first. Was this her way of making herself look more important? Absolutely shameless.
Lucinda felt like she was going to explode from frustration.
Cameron and Kylie knew Lydia hated being the center of attention, so they both wore hats and masks as they walked her onto campus.
As soon as they stepped through the school gates, there were upperclassmen and staff everywhere, greeting the new students. To help Lydia feel more at home, Mr. Kevin Moore had even told Ronald, the admissions director who recruited her, to welcome her in person.
So the moment Lydia walked through the gates, Ronald spotted her right away.
Even though she was just wearing a plain white t-shirt and black pants, there was something about Lydia. Her quiet confidence, her glowing skin, her tall silhouette... She just stood out, the kind of girl you’d notice in any crowd.
“Lydia!” Ronald called out, clearly excited. He hurried over, only to realize the people with her looked a lot like Cameron and Kylie. Both of them were carrying Lydia’s suitcases, trying to keep it low-key.
“Ronald,” Lydia greeted him politely.

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
