Benjamin hesitated for a moment before finally caving in. “It’s not that he’s completely ignoring us. He’s already been dragged into this, and now he’s under investigation. Benjamin looked like he was about to explode from frustration. “Mabel, I didn’t mean it like that. Jackson’s career is at a critical point, everyone’s watching him right now. But William’s not in that position.”

“Exactly. William is honest. He always does things by the book. He’s never abused his authority, which is why no one’s keeping tabs on him.”

Benjamin gave an awkward laugh. “Right, so if he could just talk to the police for us, he could get your sister-in-law and Rosie out.”
