Luke shook his head. “It’s nothing, really… I just feel bad about what she did to you. I’m sorry.”
Of course, he was talking about Sandy. Luke had seen the drama unfold on the school forum too. Sandy just never learned, and it made him angry.
Lydia laughed a little. “That’s between her and me. It’s got nothing to do with you, so just focus on your studies.”
Luke felt genuinely moved by her words. “I will.”
Once all the unexpected tagalongs were dropped off, Connor threw a look at Aiden in the driver’s seat, clearly not thrilled to have company. He lowered his voice and leaned toward Lydia. “Want to come over tonight?”
Lydia raised an eyebrow, giving him a look that said she knew exactly what he was thinking.
Connor grew a little awkward under her gaze and coughed. “Don’t get the wrong idea. It’s nothing like that. You promised you’d do acupuncture for me once a week, remember?”
Lydia paused for a moment, then nodded. “Alright.”
Connor’s treatment was at a critical point, and she couldn’t slack off now.
Lydia sent Kylie and Cameron a message to let them know she wouldn’t be coming home tonight and was heading to Connor’s place instead.
Kylie was a bit taken aback when she saw the message. Cameron got it at the same time and glanced over at her. It really did seem like their precious girl was about to get swept away by someone else.
Kylie just smiled, her tone full of meaning. “Don’t worry. Lydia knows what she’s doing.”
Lucinda came home just then, and, noticing the mood, asked, “Dad, Mom, what’s going on with Lydia?”
Cameron started to answer, but Kylie spoke up first. “Your sister said she has something to take care of tonight, so we don’t have to wait up for her.”

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
