Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 84

The room went completely silent.

If they operated without the family’s permission and something happened, the hospital would be on the hook. And this wasn’t just anyone. This was the father of the richest man in the country. No one here could afford that kind of risk.

Dr. Hady also knew the stakes, but he couldn’t just stand there and watch Mr. Norwood stop breathing.

Dr. Simpson finally spoke. “Get ready for surgery.”

Everyone hesitated, tense and uncertain.

Dr. Hady stepped forward. “If anything goes wrong, I’ll take responsibility.”

People stared at him, shocked.

Then, a calm and confident voice broke through. “Let me do it.”

Heads turned, searching for the source.

A young girl in scrubs walked in, standing tall and steady. No one recognized her. She wore a mask, but her eyes were striking, clear and bright. Dr. Hady froze for a second, eyes wide with surprise. “You are...”

“Dr. Hady, I need you to assist me,” Lydia said, her words crisp and direct. She moved closer, pulling out a set of silver needles.

Everyone was confused. What was she doing?

Dr. Hady looked like he was fighting back some big emotion, but he just nodded, voice respectful. “Yes.”

Now people were really stunned. Dr. Hady was famous for his skills, but also for being quiet and a little cocky. He had every reason to be. But now, here he was, agreeing to assist someone else, and not just anyone. This was a girl barely out of her teens.

Dr. Hady tried to explain. “Dr. Simpson, I can vouch for her. If anything happens, I’ll take the blame.”

That only made Dr. Simpson angrier. “You know her? What’s your relationship? Why do you trust her with something like this? This isn’t just someone important, it’s a life. You think this is a joke?”

He barely finished before Lydia pressed a needle into the fleshy spot between the old man’s thumb and index finger.

“You!” Dr. Simpson glared, furious.

Lydia glanced at him, then calmly continued, placing needles in other key points. “He took ginseng, Rhodiola, and Maca Root, all at once. His body was too weak for such strong tonics. Now he’s crashing with heart failure, kidney failure, and his liver’s failing too. His blood pressure and blood sugar are through the roof. Surgery is necessary, but first, we have to clear the toxins out, lighten the load on his body, and balance his energy. That’s how we make sure nothing goes wrong.”

Yesterday at the auction, Lucinda had spent fifty million buying rare herbs. She made a soup with them, then gave it to her dad, mom, and grandma. None of them even asked what was in it. They just had it.
