Lucinda was seriously about to lose it. Could her luck get any worse? The one time she actually wanted something from her favorite brand, all the new arrivals were gone.
“Did one person buy everything?” she asked, frowning.
The sales associate nodded right away. “How did you know? Yes, a gentleman came in and had us wrap up every single new piece from this year. You know how our collections work, right? Each store only gets one of each new item, so it’ll take a while before we restock.”
Lucinda felt like she’d just run into a brick wall. Usually, if she wanted something, the brand would set it aside for her or even send it straight to her door. But today, she had actually gone out in person to two different stores, and both times, someone else had gotten there first.
Caspian could tell she was seriously annoyed. He tried to lighten the mood. “Lucinda, do you want to go check out the jewelry section?”
The jewelry here was insanely expensive, the kind of stuff that made headlines. Caspian figured he had to do something to cheer her up. It was their first date, after all. He wanted her to know he was serious.
Lucinda already didn’t think much of Caspian, and now, with nothing going her way, she was starting to think he was completely useless. Still, the jewelry here was the real deal, the absolute best. If he was offering to buy her something, she might as well let him.
“Sure, whatever,” she said, not even trying to hide her lack of enthusiasm.
Caspian led her over to the jewelry section. Lucinda didn’t even glance at the regular luxury brands. She only cared about the top two.
Caspian had clearly done his homework. He took her straight to the most exclusive boutique.
But when they got to the counter, the main display cases and the spotlight area were both empty. Not a single signature piece left.
Lucinda gave a short, humorless laugh. “Don’t tell me all your new pieces are gone too?”
