Lucinda said the words, but inside she was completely unimpressed with Caspian. She used to think he had some backbone, but now it was obvious he just crumbled in front of Connor. If it had been Connor, he would have already paid and had everything packed up without batting an eye. The more she thought about it, the more annoyed she got.
Caspian scrambled for an explanation. “Lucinda, I just don’t have that much cash on me right now, so I need to borrow a little. But seriously, I still have plenty...”
“Caspian, just let it go,” Breanna jumped in, not missing the chance to push things along. “Lucinda said she doesn’t want them. She has enough of this stuff. Don’t waste your energy.”
That was the last straw for Lucinda. She spun around and marched off, too angry to say another word.
Caspian shot Breanna a furious look. “Why did you do that? Do you know how long I’ve waited for today?”
Breanna looked at him like he was hopeless. “She’s not the one for you. There are so many great girls out there.”
He protested, “I already gave them my card. Just pay for it. I’m going after her.”
Without waiting for a reply, Caspian rushed off to chase Lucinda.
Breanna was seething. “Unbelievable! You could find anyone, and you’re stuck on some spoiled princess? Are you out of your mind?”
Just then, the store manager came over. “Miss, about the bill...”
Breanna let out a cold laugh. “My brother might be a fool, but do I look like I am?”
The manager fell quiet. Paying four times the price for things worth billions was ridiculous. This was a store with marked prices, not an auction.
Lydia watched the whole mess, totally bored. She turned to Connor. “Let’s get out of here.”

Every chapter is missing a sentence from the end of every chapter. It’s frustrating to try guess what’s missing or said...
