She still only wanted to marry Connor.
If Lydia just disappeared, everything would be perfect. She would be Connor’s fiancée, fair and square.
Juna spotted Violette and plopped down beside her with a bright smile. “How long have you been here?”
“A while, I guess. Where’d you go? I was looking for you.”
Juna grinned. “We went backstage to check out… our idol.”
She almost mentioned Lydia’s outfit, but kept quiet. Lydia hadn’t appeared yet. No spoilers allowed. It would ruin the surprise for everyone.
Luke slid in next to Juna, and Connor took the seat beside Luke, right by the aisle.
People sitting behind them couldn’t help whispering.
“They’re engaged, aren’t they? Why aren’t they sitting together at a concert?”
“Yeah, they’re kinda far apart. Maybe they don’t want to attract attention?”
“Well, the heiress is sitting between her parents, so Connor got pushed to the edge.”
“She really is lucky. She’s surrounded by people who love her.”
Lucinda overheard bits and pieces of the gossip and felt a huge wave of relief. She was so glad she hadn’t brought Caspian tonight. With all these eyes on them, she would have been in way over her head.
