Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 886

Yara squeezed her hands together, her eyes filling with a mix of hurt and something darker. It had to be Lydia. Only Lydia could have pulled something like this. Yara had always heard that Lydia was a little offbeat, always messing with weird things no one else understood. Now, all the private info on the school forum was out in the open, and Yara was sure Lydia was behind it. Lydia probably felt embarrassed after losing the poll and wanted to drag Yara down with her. It was so petty.

“Grandpa, I know I messed up.”

Facing Lewis, she could only apologize. Lewis saw how genuinely sorry she looked, and his voice softened.

“Yara, I know you think I’m hard on you, but it’s only because I care. Do you get that?”

Lewis and his wife were both teachers, and they only had one daughter. But their daughter had let them down, falling for someone too young, getting pregnant, then dropping out of school. The stress nearly broke their hearts. He just couldn’t stand the thought of Yara, his only granddaughter, throwing away her future for something as silly as a crush.

Yara knew he meant well, so she nodded. “I know, Grandpa. I promise I’ll focus on school. I won’t let you or Grandma down.”

“That’s what I needed to hear.”

Lewis made his way to Kevin’s office. Kevin was sitting at his desk, eyes glued to the school forum on his computer screen. The more he read, the more he realized how badly the forum needed a reset. Switching to real names was definitely the right call. It forced all those people who hid behind fake names and said whatever they wanted to actually take responsibility. He had to admit, Lydia was clever. She’d solved a bunch of headaches with just one move.

“You’re here. Have a seat.”

Kevin looked as relaxed as ever, which only made Lewis more nervous.
