The whole room exploded again.
It felt like a lightning strike had gone off inside everyone’s heads, leaving them frozen in shock.
Lydia was Kevin’s personal disciple?
Had they heard that right?
Kevin was a giant in the country’s medical world. People from the richest, most powerful families had begged to be his apprentice, and he’d turned them all away.
There were so many people trying to become his student that Kevin had made a point of saying publicly he would never take any more disciple. He told everyone that if they wanted to contribute to medicine, they should work hard to get into Capital Med School, and if they ever ran into tough problems, they could come ask him for help.
So for years, everyone genuinely thought he wasn’t taking any students. No one imagined he’d quietly accepted Lydia behind the scenes.
Daisy had gone completely pale. Her legs felt like jelly, barely able to hold her up. If she hadn’t been gripping the edge of the desk, she probably would have collapsed right there.
How could this be happening?
Why hadn’t anyone heard a single rumor about Kevin taking on a disciple?
Someone as famous as Kevin would normally have a huge ceremony to announce something like this, letting the whole world know he had chosen a student. That way, his apprentice would instantly have more opportunities and connections in the field.
But Kevin had played by his own rules. He’d brought Lydia in as his disciple in total secrecy. Not a whisper had gotten out.
It wasn’t just Daisy. Pretty much everyone in the hall was thinking the same thing.
Why would someone like Kevin keep his final student a secret?
“Kevin, Lydia… she’s really your personal apprentice?” Angelo looked like he’d just been struck by lightning himself.
How had no one heard about something this huge?
Stellan was just as stunned. “Can I ask, Kevin, when did you take Lydia as your apprentice?”
Kevin just kept dropping more bombshells.
He smiled, looking completely relaxed. “I took her on when she was five. After that, I told everyone I wouldn’t accept any more students.”
With a genius like Lydia as his disciple, he had nothing left to wish for. He didn’t want any other so-so students messing with his good mood.
“Five years old?” Stellan could barely believe it, his eyes wide with shock.
