Lydia didn’t waste words. She picked up a bomb, the kind that could blast the helicopters below right out of the sky.
“If there’s something in the way on the helipad, let’s just get rid of it.”
Down below, Falcon and his crew were still having a good time, watching the helicopters circle overhead, unable to land.
“Lydia, Ansel already locked up Ghost and his men. Are we really going to take out Connor here? Won’t Ansel come for us?” Bill, the cold-eyed guy next to Falcon, asked. He was the one who’d sent Ghost the location.
Of course, they’d never planned to turn Luke over. Their real plan was simple. Wait for Connor, kill him, and toss his body to the sharks. And they weren’t about to let him die quickly. They’d make sure he regretted ever stepping onto that boat, make him beg for mercy he’d never get.
“Ansel? That guy’s just a coward. If Jefferson is gone, Ansel won’t do anything to us. We’re the real family here. Isn’t that right?” Falcon grinned, a laugh bubbling up.
Suddenly, one of the men yelled, “Boss, they’re trying to land!” The helicopter was dropping fast, and everyone around scrambled to grab their weapons, pointing them at the descending aircraft.
Falcon shoved the girl off his lap and started to get up, but before he could, someone shouted, “No, look out, it’s a bomb!”
“Get down!”
The explosion hit with a force that shook the world. The sound ripped through the laughter and music on the cruise ship, a roar so loud it felt like the sky was falling. The bomb went off right on the helipad, tearing the two helicopters to pieces. Flames shot out in every direction, the heat so fierce it set everything nearby on fire.
Falcon and his men were thrown to the deck, scrambling to get up as chaos erupted around them. The guests, all dressed up and looking glamorous moments before, screamed and ran in all directions.
Through the smoke and panic, another helicopter began to descend, slowly and steadily. On the highest part of the helipad, a slim, fierce figure jumped down first. She wore black from head to toe, her long hair tied up high, whipping around in the sea wind.
