Chapter 727: Chapter 727: Keeping It a Secret

Meng Jin couldn’t help but hold his breath, not daring to speak or make a sound, for fear of disturbing the doctor’s diagnosis.

Until the doctor came out, Meng Jin couldn’t help stepping forward to ask: "How is he?" His voice was trembling, tinged with a trace of trepidation and anxiety. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Logically, he should have woken up by now, but..." The doctor’s words made Meng Jin stagger.

"Mr. Meng."

Zhao Xiangqian, being the closest, caught Meng Jin with swift steps, preventing him from falling onto the ground.

Li Wei’s eyes instantly reddened, and he slapped himself hard, reproaching himself: "It’s all my fault, if not for me..."

"Da Wei." Yan Dong clutched Li Wei tightly, his lips quivering severely, not managing to utter a single word.

"He’s awake."

The nurse’s voice came from the ward, sounding like heavenly music.

Meng Jin instinctively looked towards Meng Siyu, whose eyelids though not yet open were trembling as if he was about to wake up.

"Si Yu, wake up quickly, you can’t leave me and your mom, you can’t leave Xiao Yue behind."

Meng Jin rushed towards Meng Siyu without a second thought, fearing the worst if Meng Siyu couldn’t wake up now.

When ’Xiao Yue’ was mentioned, Meng Siyu’s eyelids noticeably trembled even more, and his hand showed some reaction. Meng Jin said excitedly, "Si Yu, Xiao Yue has been waiting for you all this time. What will she do if you leave her behind?"

"Such a good daughter-in-law, I can’t bear to just hand her over to someone else," Meng Jin continued to stimulate Meng Siyu.

"Dad, Xiao Yue is my wife, why would you hand her over to anyone?" Meng Siyu’s voice was weak, but his spirit was strong. Slowly, he opened his eyes.

Meng Jin’s tears flowed down the moment he saw Si Yu’s eyes move.

The medical staff began to usher Meng Jin and the others out; though Meng Siyu had woken up, he still needed careful nursing to avoid infections, which would be quite troublesome.

Knowing that Meng Siyu was safe, Meng Jin and the others were greatly relieved. Meng Jin asked Li Wei and the others to rest, and then summoned some people over before he went to the nurse’s station and made a phone call.

Mo Xiaolin had just gotten up and was about to have breakfast when she heard from Meng Jin that Meng Siyu was injured, and she immediately became anxious.

Meng Jin quickly reassured, "Xiaolin, don’t worry, Si Yu is not in life-threatening danger. Be careful on the road and bring some breakfast."

"What do you mean he’s not in life-threatening danger, you think the one injured isn’t your son?" Mo Xiaolin, unaware of yesterday’s peril, felt a surge of anger upon hearing Meng Jin’s words that she couldn’t express.

And so, Mo Xiaolin hurried to the hospital, where she found Meng Siyu lying in the ICU, having taken medicine and fallen asleep again; her tears instantly started to fall. She asked, "When did the accident happen? Why are you only telling me now?"

Mo Xiaolin looked at Meng Jin with a grievous gaze, noticing his bloodshot appearance and what she had just learned from the doctor, she realized Meng Jin had kept the news from her to spare her the worry and sleeplessness.

"Si Yu is already alright. If I had informed you yesterday, could you have slept well?" Meng Jin retorted.

Mo Xiaolin became speechless; indeed, if she had known about her son’s uncertain fate yesterday, she wouldn’t have had the mind to eat or sleep, and it would have been fortunate if she didn’t faint.

Meng Siyu looked around, and his clothes from the injury weren’t in sight. When Li Wei came over, Meng Siyu immediately asked: "Da Wei, where are my clothes? The ones I wore yesterday."

"Is Brother Meng asking about this?" Li Wei pulled out a black necklace from his pocket and handed it over.

Meng Siyu’s eyes lit up instantly.

"Brother Meng, the pendant is destroyed, and the photo inside is gone as well," Li Wei said regretfully.

Meng Siyu took the pendant and tenderly rubbed it in his hands. Indeed, as Li Wei said, it was deformed. He felt troubled, how would he tell Tang Yue that the pendant was ruined?

"Da Wei, go and look around to see if you can find an identical pendant for sale." Meng Siyu handed the pendant to Li Wei and hurriedly urged him out.

Li Wei wanted to ask about Meng Siyu’s health but found himself pushed out bewilderingly.

Dinner was in the hospital.

Mo Xiaolin stewed bone soup; the family of three were reunited in the hospital, and Meng Jin was in a very good mood. Meng Siyu’s condition had stabilized, and now it was just a matter of good rest and recovery.

"Siyu, should we tell Xiao Yue about your injury?" Mo Xiaolin had just started to broach the topic.

Meng Siyu quickly shook his head and said: "Mom, please don’t tell Xiao Yue. It would just make her worry. She’s in F-country to study, not sightsee. Her daily schedule is very busy."

"Mom, my injury is nothing serious, just some rest and I’ll be hopping around again." Meng Siyu had a firm belief in his heart that he couldn’t mention this matter at all. He had promised Xiao Yue that he wouldn’t get hurt, and now he was almost killed. If Xiao Yue found out, he wouldn’t dare meet her gaze.
