"I’m back from Country F, Si Yu is in Jin City, so I’m here too," Tang Yue said, waving the things in her hand. "I just went to visit an old grandma at the hospital and just got back. Aunt Lian, what brings you here?"
"I..." Lian Tong paused then changed the subject, asking, "Xiao Yue, where do you live?"
"Come on, Aunt Lian, come have lunch at my place," Tang Yue warmly invited Lian Tong back to her home.
She had a good impression of Lian Tong and happily introduced her, "Si Yu’s company is nearby. He couldn’t come home for the New Year, so I came to Jin City. Xiao Yang helped me find this place."
"Not bad," Lian Tong looked around the house. Although it was small, it was tidy. A sparrow may be small, but it has all its vital organs; everything that should be there, was, without anything missing.
Entering the living room gave off a warm feeling.
"Aunt Lian."
Just as Tang Yue began to speak, Lian Tong corrected her, "Xiao Yue, just aunt will do. Calling me Aunt Lian, are you treating me like an outsider?"
"Aunt," Tang Yue promptly corrected herself, asking, "Auntie, whom are you looking for? Your future uncle?"
"No," Lian Tong shook her head. In the past year, Lian Tong had left the Lian Family and had been searching everywhere for Gu Chun. But Gu Chun was keen on avoiding her, and despite having great abilities, she couldn’t find him.
Lian Tong simply changed her approach. She learned that Gu Chun had an elderly grandmother living in Jin City; she just didn’t know where exactly or what her name was.
So Lian Tong came to Jin City to try her luck and, unexpectedly, didn’t encounter Grandma Gu but ran into Xiao Yue.
"Then Auntie, who are you looking for?" Tang Yue asked with a curious face.
If she wasn’t mistaken, this aunt had traversed great distances for love, and who else could she be looking for but Gu Chun?
Lian Qingyang had previously mentioned that Aunt Lian, in order to find Gu Chun, didn’t even bother returning to the Lian Family. She was solely focused on finding Gu Chun, let alone thinking about marriage.
Should anyone in the Lian Family dare to broach the subject of marriage with Lian Tong, she would become furious with them.
Over the past few years, the business Lian Tong had started was also very successful; independent of the Lian Family, Lian Tong was still living prosperously. At home, aside from Lian Qingyang, she wouldn’t even acknowledge the authority of Old Sir Lian on occasion.
"I’m looking for an elderly person," Lian Tong said as she looked at Tang Yue’s face, which she found very endearing, unlike Lian Qingqing who grew up in the Lian Family. Lian Qingqing’s eyes felt off to her, even though she was well-mannered and sensible, she just didn’t like her.
On the other hand, she found Tang Yue’s clear and bright eyes very likable and approachable at first glance.
"An elderly person?" Tang Yue’s big, twinkling eyes full of curiosity were incredibly adorable.
Lian Tong smiled and said, "This elderly person is Gu Chun’s grandmother. I previously got information that Gu Chun had an elderly grandmother living in Jin City, but I just don’t know where."
"You’re looking for Grandma Gu, what’s her name?" Tang Yue blurted out, instantly thinking of the old Grandma Gu in the hospital who had no relatives. She suddenly stood up and asked, "Auntie, do you know the name of that Grandma Gu?"
"Xiao Yue, what’s the matter, why so excited?" Lian Tong watched Tang Yue’s obviously agitated demeanor, smiled lightly, and shook her head, "I don’t know Grandma Gu’s name either."
If she knew the name, it would be easy to find her in the civil registration system.
"Grandma Gu, do you really know him?" Lian Tong looked at Grandma Gu eagerly, her body unconsciously leaning forward.
Tang Yue explained, "Grandma Gu, my aunt and Gu Chun were childhood sweethearts, but due to some misunderstandings, they’ve been separated for many years. My aunt has been unmarried all these years, just waiting for Gu Chun."
"Aunt Tang..." Grandma Gu looked at Lian Tong with some shock, sizing her up. Lian Tong seemed to be in her thirties, but she was well-preserved and dressed very elegantly, clearly coming from a wealthy family.
"Grandma Gu, my name is Lian Tong," she introduced herself, her voice choking up a bit. Tang Yue’s introduction was simple, but only Lian Tong knew the loneliness and hardship of waiting for someone alone for so many years.
"You’ve been waiting for Gu Chun for so many years, you must have suffered," said Grandma Gu, extending her trembling hand towards Lian Tong, tears quickly gathering in her eyes.
"Grandma Gu, do you know where Gu Chun might be?" Lian Tong knelt by the bed, looking imploringly at Grandma Gu.
Hope filled Lian Tong’s eyes.
Grandma Gu couldn’t bear to look into her eyes; she lowered her gaze and shook her head, saying, "I don’t know, don’t wait for him any longer. It’s not worth it for that good-for-nothing grandson."
"No," Lian Tong objected, "Grandma Gu, in this lifetime, I’ve set my heart on him, no matter what he’s like, I have to find him and get things clear."
Grandma Gu looked into Lian Tong’s determined eyes, and let out a long sigh, lamenting in her heart that Gu Chun, that silly boy, would give up such a wonderful woman... truly foolish.
Tang Yue sat to the side, listening to Grandma Gu and Lian Tong’s conversation about Gu Chun, not knowing what else she should say.
