Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets novel Chapter 784

Chapter 784: Chapter 784: I Have No Such Disgraceful Daughter

"Where’s my sister?" Tang Xian pushed aside Lu Ming and strode inside.

"Are you Tang Xian?" Lu Ming, who realized belatedly, extended his hand trying to stop him, but Tang Xian, who had been uneducated since childhood and only settled down after becoming a boss, hid his innate ferocity with difficulty.

Agilely, Tang Xian searched around the room; besides the living room, there was only one other room. When Tang Xian barged in, Tang Min was putting on her coat, and the room was still filled with the scent of amorous activities.

Tang Xian was already married and knew all too well what that smell in the room was.

"Tang Min, how can you, as an unmarried girl, be together with a man?" Tang Xian said, his mouth twitching with anger as he looked at his sister, Tang Min, whose face still bore a trace of blush.

The sight only fueled Tang Xian’s anger, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets.

"Brother, didn’t you and Guo Li get together before marriage too?" Tang Min retorted, fear evident in her eyes but overlaid by a kind of despairing defiance.

She was already involved with Lu Ming, and even if her father and brother disagreed, they would have to accept it.

"How can that be the same?" Tang Xian trembled with anger. When he first got together with Guo Li, it was true they were young, but neither of them was married. Even if they weren’t engaged yet, their relationship was public and proper.

But Tang Min was betrothed!

A betrothed woman still seeing another man, Tang Xian didn’t know what to say.

"Tang Min." Tang Zhengyuan entered the room with heavy steps. The lingering scent, messy bed, and tissues scattered on the floor made it impossible not to guess what had just occurred here.

"Dad."

Tang Min’s voice was laced with guilt as she dared not meet Tang Zhengyuan’s gaze.

Tang Zhengyuan did not respond, and the room fell silent.

Tang Xian looked worriedly at Tang Zhengyuan. Over the years, their father had taken care of them like both a father and a mother, burdened enough already. Finally having arranged a good marital match for Tang Min, he thought her future was set. But now, Tang Min...

"Uncle, I will marry Xiao Min," Lu Ming stepped forward, declaring his stance.

Tang Zhengyuan didn’t even glance at Lu Ming; his cold gaze fixed on Tang Min. With the room warmed by a charcoal fire, it should not have been cold, but Tang Min felt a chill creeping up her back.

"Tang Min, it seems you didn’t listen to my previous words. Have you resolved to be with him and call off your marriage to the Gao Family, is that it?" Tang Zhengyuan’s words were calm.

Tang Min raised her head, confronting Tang Zhengyuan’s stern face, and her lips quivered.

"Uncle..." Lu Ming began.

Tang Zhengyuan interrupted, "Tang Min, you speak."

Lu Ming also felt uneasy; he had slept with the girl, and Tang Zhengyuan’s calm was unsettling.

Lu Ming would not have protested even if Tang Zhengyuan had struck him.

"Dad." Tang Min raised her head, facing Tang Zhengyuan’s grim expression, glancing briefly at Lu Ming’s anxious face, she firmly declared: "Dad, Lu Ming and I have already consummated our relationship; I wish to annul the marriage."

Disappointment flashed through Tang Zhengyuan’s eyes. He took a deep breath, trembling as he pulled an aged, worn-out wallet from his coat. His hands shook several times before he managed to get the wallet out.

Today was Zheng Yue, and Tang Zhengyuan had brought quite a bit of money. He counted US$ 300 from his wallet and placed it in front of Tang Min.

"Dad, I’ll go with you."

The next morning, Tang Zhengyuan and Tang Xian went to the Gao Family.

"Our in-laws are here?" Sister-in-law Gao greeted Tang Zhengyuan warmly into the house.

After shaking hands and wishing each other a Happy New Year, the warm Uncle Gao and Aunt Gao noticed something was wrong with Tang Zhengyuan and also saw Tang Xian, but not Tang Min. They felt a vague premonition but thought maybe they were overthinking.

Tang Zhengyuan got straight to the point, saying, "Brother Gao, Sister-in-law Gao, I, Tang Zhengyuan, have wronged you."

Tang Zhengyuan stood up and bowed deeply to Uncle Gao and Aunt Gao.

Uncle Gao and Aunt Gao exchanged glances, their uneasy premonition intensifying. Aunt Gao forced a smile and said, "In-law, why speak such words?"

"As a father, I failed in educating my daughter. Now, I have severed ties with Xiao Min, and thus the engagement is also broken off." Tang Zhengyuan apologized, saying, "Brother Gao, Sister-in-law Gao, ask for any compensation you want, as long as I can provide it."

"I will not call off the engagement." Gao Bin had just dressed neatly and came downstairs, expecting to see Tang Min. But before he even got downstairs, he heard Tang Zhengyuan’s words, and his eyes reddened. He excitedly said, "I won’t call off the engagement. I like Xiao Min. I want to marry Xiao Min."

Gao Bin strode forward, looking at Tang Zhengyuan, and emotionally said, "Dad, if you think there’s something I haven’t done well, I’ll change it. If Xiao Min thinks I don’t speak well, I’ll change that too." Gao Bin’s heart was pounding.

"Xiao Bin, I know you are a good boy. It’s our Tang family who’s not blessed, it’s Tang Min who’s not blessed." Tang Zhengyuan’s guilt and regret were more evident.

"I’m going to find her and clear things up." Gao Bin strode out rapidly.

Gao Bin ran swiftly, and the families of Tang Zhengyuan and Uncle Gao, realizing later, tried to catch up.
