"Ring..."
The phone rang, and Tang Yue answered as if by telepathy. On the other end came Meng Siyu’s distinct voice, deep and resonant. Carried over the phone, it had an indescribable pleasantness.
Every time Tang Yue heard his voice over the phone, her mood lifted with joy.
"Sweetheart, I miss you," said Meng Siyu, his tone rising playfully on the last word when he called her ’sweetheart,’ teasingly distinctive.
Tang Yue felt a sweet warmth in her heart, snuggling into the sofa, she shifted to a comfier position before responding, "How did you know it was me?"
"This is our home, who else could it be but you?" questioned Meng Siyu in return.
Even through the phone, one could sense Meng Siyu’s light laughter.
Tang Yue’s lips curved up involuntarily, her voice coy, "Then you guessed wrong. Mom and dad have come to Jing City, they’re even planning to open a restaurant here."
"Mom and Dad are here?" Meng Siyu sounded surprised, asking, "Sweetheart, isn’t Xiao Jun about to take his college entrance exam?"
Meng Siyu was well aware of the family matters at Tang Yue’s side.
With Tang Jun facing his college entrance exams in the first half of the year, why would his in-laws decide to move to Jing City now?
"Sweetheart, you haven’t run into any trouble, have you?" Meng Siyu quickly followed up with concern.
"I’m fine," Tang Yue replied, her hand resting on her abdomen as she imagined Meng Siyu’s astonished expression. Changing the subject, she asked, "When are you coming back to Jing City?"
"April," answered Meng Siyu, adding, "In thirty days I’ll return to Jing City. Do you want to eat some Jin City baked buns? I can bring you a few when I come back."
"Sure," Tang Yue laughed in response and added a few more Jin City specialties to her wish list.
Even though separated by the phone and vast distances, their hearts felt incredibly close.
"Husband, I have a big surprise for you when you return to Jing City," Tang Yue said mysteriously before hanging up the phone.
Meng Siyu wanted to ask more, but Tang Yue had already ended the call.
’Du du du’
The busy tone sounded, leaving Meng Siyu’s heart hanging on the surprise Tang Yue had mentioned. Her voice, clear as a silver bell, seemed to linger in his ears. Those brief fifteen minutes on the phone were what he looked forward to the most.
These days, with the business keeping him busy, it had been a long time since he last heard his wife’s voice.
"Meng Siyu, look at you!" Qin Anhao followed behind Meng Siyu, unable to resist saying, "I didn’t call anyone so I could spare a few minutes for you."
"Grandpa Qin is waiting for you," Meng Siyu turned and walked away, then paused, turned back, and said to Qin Anhao, "You don’t have a wife, naturally, you wouldn’t understand the feeling."
With those words, Meng Siyu strode away.
Qin Anhao watched his retreating figure, eyes bulging with annoyance. So what if he was married?
So what if I don’t have a wife?
"A little bit, I guess, but you were slim to begin with, and now you look just right." An Yu wasn’t dwelling too much on it, asking with a hint of secrecy, "You stayed in Jin City for a while, didn’t you? Did you see my brother?"
"I did." Tang Yue nodded, recalling how Xie Ziyao was constantly pestering An Hao in competitions, unsure if she should mention it.
An Yu asked with a curious face, "Does my brother have a girlfriend? Or, are there any girls who like him?"
Grandpa Qin had been nagging about when An Hao would get married, and as his sister, her ears had grown calluses from hearing it. Moreover, she was now living happily with Chu Hong and naturally hoped that An Hao could find a partner as well.
"There are." Tang Yue just answered.
An Yu’s excited and thrilled expression seemed even more joyous than if she had a girlfriend herself.
"What’s her name? How old is she? Is she pretty?" An Yu bombarded her with excited questions, all coming out in a rush, leaving Tang Yue unsure of how to respond.
"Sister An Yu, Brother Qin doesn’t like any of them," Tang Yue said helplessly, spreading her hands and narrating what she knew from Jin City.
An Hao was good-looking and held a major’s rank, just like Si Yu, and there were definitely not a few who had secret crushes on him. However, An Hao had dismissed them all.
"Alas, I don’t know what kind of fairy my brother is waiting for."
An Yu ruffled her hair and said, "Meng Siyu has married you, and he still isn’t married. Really, I don’t know what he’s like. Jin City’s schools are said to be very large; how could there not be pretty girls there?"
"Forget him, Xiao Yue, our collaboration with Lucy has officially started. Star Bright has specifically added two production lines for France, dedicated to Lucy’s needs." An Yu explained that French women and Huaxia women have different stature requirements, and there were some differences in sizes, after all.
"That’s good, Jin Yan is doing a great job as an assistant," Tang Yue praised.
