Rebirth Of The Heiress And The Tycoon's Lover (Alina) novel Chapter 108

Chapter 108

Chapter 108

ALINA’S POV.

“Jesus Christ!” I gasped.

The wound looked really terrible. Blood seeped through a haphazardly wrapped bandage.

“It’s no big deal.” He shrugged.

I pressed down slightly on the wound, making him wince sharply.

Men and their stupid ego.

“You were saying?” I glared. “We need to get you to a hospital.”

“No. No hospital.” He said quickly.

“Why not? Would you rather bleed to death here?” My tone was a mix of confusion, disbelief and panic.

“No hospitals, please.” He repeated not bothering to elaborate.

“Talia, can you call your doctor friend? I can’t call Blackwood’s doctor because then, Lucian will find out.” I pleaded.

“Max is out of the country right now, but I can help patch him up if there’s a first aid kit.” She said calmly.

She has been so calm through out.

“It’s on the kitchen counter.” Cobi said weakly, nodding toward the Kitchen which was in plain sight.

It was those open-concept kitchen and I could see the first aid box on the counter.

Talia moved swiftly, retrieving the kit.

“Do you have alcohol?” Talia asked from the kitchen.

“In the fridge.” He told her.

She grabbed it and returned with steady hands. She pulled out a pair of scissors from the box, disinfected it with the alcohol and proceeded to cut away the blood-soaked bandage.

When she pulled the fabric away, I nearly fainted from the sight.

The bullet was still lodged inside.

I quickly turned my eyes away and looked at Talia instead. She was accessing the injury with a calm expression.

How was she so calm?

“How are you so calm?” I muttered, voicing out my thoughts.

“You forgot my parents sent me to nursing camp the summer of our second year in high school,” she said. “Plus, I’ve got a cousin in the Marines, I stitch him up all the time.”

“Oh yeah…” I murmured, vaguely remembering.

She pulled on two pairs of surgical gloves, doubling it.

“You didn’t remove the bullet.” She noted.

“I was scared I’d bleed out if I did.” Cobi admitted.

“Hmm.” She nodded.

“There’s no pain reliever, so-”

“Just do it.” He cut her off.

She poured alcohol directly on the wound. Cobi groaned, clutching the edge of the couch.

“Here.” She said, handing him the bottle. “This should take the edge off.”

He took it without protest, gulping it down.

“You can bite on this.” She offered him a clean towel from the box.

He shoved it in his mouth, bracing himself.

She then grabbed a twizzer she had earlier disinfected with the alcohol.

“You ready?”

Cobi nodded, though his clenched jaw said otherwise.

I reached for his hand and held it tightly. He gave me a grateful look. I nodded in return.

“Here we go.” Talia murmured.

I looked away completely, fixing my eyes on Cobi’s pale, sweat-slicked face, I didn’t have the stomach to look. His eyes squeezed shut, jaw clenched around the towel as he groaned in pain.

He gripped my hand so hard, I thought my bones might snap, but I knew that was nothing compared to the pain he was feeling.

I heard the metallic clink of the bullet falling into the makeshift surgical tray.

Still, I didn’t look at the wound.

I did spare a glance at Takia though. She was working with focus and precision, stitching the skin with practiced ease.

Cobi’s grip began to loosen. The towel fell from his mouth. I picked it up with my free hand and gently wiped the sweat from his forehead.

“You’re doing a great job, Cobi.” I cooed, offering a small smile.

He raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips twitching.

“You don’t have to talk to me like I’m a baby, you know.” He rasped weakly.

Talia chuckled.

“I’m just trying to comfort you.” I smiled as my cheeks flushed

“I know. Thank you.” He said, his voice more serious now as he gently squeezed my hand.

“Does it hurt?”

“Like a fucking bitch.” He muttered.

“I see what you mean by him having the mouth of a sailor.” Talia snorted.

“You’ve been talking shit about me, huh?” Cobi threw me a playful glare.

“It’s not shit if it’s true. You curse a lot,” I teased.

“All done.” Talia announced, securing the last clip on the fresh bandage.

I finally looked at Cobi’s abdomen. The wound was cleaned, rid of all blood and neatly wrapped.

“Wow. You really should’ve taken nursing as a career.” I told her, impressed.

“Nah. I’d rather play with computers than stitch up bloody people all day.” She peeled off her gloves.

Of course she does.

“No offense.” She then added quickly turning to Cody.

“None taken,” Cobi said with a grin. “Thanks, Doc, for stitching me up.” He winked at her.

“I can’t believe you’re flirting right now.” I said, in disbelief.

This was somebody who was groaning in pain a few seconds ago.

Men.

“What can I say? You only live once.” He shrugged.

Talia chuckled, walked away and returned from disposing of the materials a few minutes later.

As soon as we were all settled, I let my expression turn serious.

“Now, tell us what happened.”
