Chapter 117
Chapter 117
ALINA’S POV.
:
“So beautiful,” he whispered after a while. “You always were. Even when you were her.”
My stomach turned again. Her.
Rosa.
I forced myself to keep eating.
When I finished, I wiped my mouth and glanced up.
“Can I… use the bathroom?” I asked softly, glancing toward the door. “Please?”
“There’s none in here.” He replied flatly, like I should’ve known.

“I figured. But I really need to go,” I said gently. “I’ll be quick and we will come right back. I promise.”
He hesitated again for a moment, then he finally stood up.
“Fine.” He let out an annoyed sigh.
He led me out of the room, up a narrow staircase. My legs trembled with every step. The hallway was narrow and dimly lit. We were definitely in a basement, cold, with unfinished walls and that faint smell of damp paint.
Not long, we emerged into what looked like the main house.
With the little I could see, It wasn’t pristine, but it was modern. Lived–in. Dull furniture. Dirty dishes. A dusty lamp. Not what I respected.
I didn’t know what I was expecting anyways.
He opened the door to the bathroom and gestured inside. I walked in and noticed him following closely.
“What are you doing?” I asked, trying to hide the panic from my tone.
“I should stay with you.”
“No!” I said a little too fast.
“Why the fuck not? It’s not like your body is a secret, it belong to me anyway.”
His words made bile rise to my throat.
I managed to keep my tone even as I spoke.
“I mean… I can’t pee with someone watching. Please. Just give me a little privacy?”

I barely managed to smile, my tone soft. “Please.”
His jaw tensed. The silence stretched uncomfortably.
Then, finally, he relented.
“Be quick.” He said and closed the door behind him.

The second I was alone, my eyes scanned the space looking for something I could use for a weapon but there was nothing. No phone. Just cracked tiles, a dirty mirror, and a small high window.
I rushed to the toilet and climbed up onto the seat, careful not to make a noise, I steaded myself.
The window was grimy, too small to fit through but I could see out. I peered through the small space.
Trees. Miles of them.
No buildings. No roads. Just wilderness.
Where the hell were we?
If I somehow escaped… could I lose him in the woods? Could I outrun him?
I jumped down at the sound of my name echoing down the hall.
“Alina!” Jackson’s voice rang through the door. “You okay in there?”
“Yes!” I called quickly, flushing the toilet and turning on the faucet. I scrubbed my hands and opened the door to see him standing right outside.
“There she is,” he said, a dark smile spreading across his face. “God, you’re beautiful.”
He reached out, touching a lock of my

I just smiled weakly. “Thanks.”
hair.
He led me back to the room in the basement.
Once inside, I paused, holding out my bruised wrists.
“Please… don’t cuff me again. Look.” I showed him the swollen, reddened skin. “It hurts.”
His eyes softened. Or maybe darkened, I couldn’t tell which was worse.
He took my hand gently in his and pressed his lips to the bruises.
I swallowed hard, forcing down the disgust rising in my throat.
My whole body tensed, but he thankfully didn’t notice.

“See?” he whispered. “I’d never hurt you. Never. I love you.”
He placed my hands on the bed, then slowly began crawling toward me.
Panic surged in my veins like ice water.
My heart slammed against my ribs. My breath caught in my throat.
I had to stay calm. I had to.
“Jackson,” I said, voice trembling, “maybe… maybe we could talk more instead?”
He paused, tilting his head.
Talk. Yes. Keep him talking. Keep stalling.
Because if Lucian really was looking for me, he was my only shot at getting out of this alive.
“We have talked enough, I would like to do other things.” He smiled a sinister smile.
Panic thundered in my chest as I struggled to breathe.
No, no, no.
“Jackson, don’t.” I whispered, scooting back.
But he didn’t stop.
I knew I was running out of time.

I didn’t wait for him to touch me, I kicked, screamed, bit, did everything I could to get him off me. But it was like trying to fight a nightmare with bare hands. Every move I’d learned, every self–defense tactic, all flew out the window.
My limbs felt like jelly. The raw, choking fear I was feeling was louder than any sense of reason.
“Get off me!” I screamed, shoving at his chest as he tried to pin me down. I clawed at his face, kicking out wildly until my knee landed hard between his legs.
Jackson cried out, doubling over in pain.
I didn’t wait.
I scrambled, heart pounding, vision hazy from the adrenaline. My bare feet slapped against the cold concrete as I dashed for the door. It was right there, freedom was right there.
But I didn’t make it.
“NO!” I shrieked when I felt a cruel yank on my hair. The pain ripped through my scalp as Jackson yanked me back with a strength that sent me crashing to the floor.

My head slammed against the concrete with a sickening thud, white sparks flashing in my vision as a scream tore from my throat.
“Damn it, Alina!” he roared, voice shaking with rage. “You shouldn’t have done that! You’ve pissed me off now… just like Rosa did!”
my
I blinked up at him, head spinning, blood rushing in my ears. The mention of her name made stomach flip.
He raised his hand and smacked me. Once. Twice.
My head jerked to the side with each blow, pain exploding across my cheekbones.
“You think you can run from me?” he hissed, grabbing my arms and dragging me back to the bed like I weighed nothing. “You’re just like her… testing me… and now look where we are!”
I screamed as he dragged me back to the bed and forced the cuffs back on my wrists, the cold metal biting into my already–bruised skin. My sobs echoed off the concrete walls.
“Don’t!” I cried out, voice shaking. “Please, Jackson, don’t do this! Please, I beg you!”
But my pleas only seemed to fuel something darker in him. His eyes were glassy, gone. He was like a man possessed.
He grabbed the waistband of my pants and yanked them down roughly. The cold air of the basement hit my skin like ice, but nothing compared to the deep, soul–freezing terror that gripped my heart.
I kicked with everything I had, one leg still free. My heel connected with something, his nose, I think. I heard the satisfying crack, followed by his sharp cry.
He stumbled back, cursing.
“Goddammit!” he growled, blood now dripping from his nostrils. “You little bitch!”
He stormed over to a corner of the room, rummaging through a chest. I saw ropes. My heart sank.
“No! No, please!” I started to scream, voice raw and frantic. “Somebody help me! Help!”
Jackson turned his head toward me with a dark smirk, rope in hand. “No one can hear you down here, baby. It’s just us now, Just like it should have always been.”
Tears blurred my vision as he returned. I kicked and thrashed, but he was stronger, angrier. He tied my ankles to the foot of the bed, knotting the rope tight until I couldn’t move.
Then he crawled back over me, eyes wild and chest heaving.
“No…no… Jackson, please,” I sobbed, struggling against the restraints. “Please don’t do this…”
He didn’t say a word.
His fingers gripped the collar of my shirt and tore it apart, buttons flying across the room. I screamed again,

the sound broken and desperate.
“You’re mine, Alina,” he murmured, brushing my hair away from my face. “You were always mine. Rosa should have known that. But she… she made me do it. I didn’t want to hurt her, I swear. She made me.”
He was crazy.
I could hardly hear him over the ringing in my ears. I was too busy fighting to stay awake, fighting the overwhelming pull of darkness that threatened to swallow me whole. My head throbbed. My vision spun.
God… someone… anyone…
Please.
And then, just as I felt the last of my strength slip away—
BANG.
A gunshot rang through the room.
Jackson’s body was yanked off mine, the weight lifted as he crashed to the floor with a shocked cry of pain.
My blurry vision darted to the side.
Framed in the light coming from outside the door stood Lucian.
His eyes were a blazing storm of fury and panic, chest heaving, gun still raised.
I tried to say his name, my lips trembling.
“Lucian…”
It barely came out, a whisper, a breath.
Then I finally succumb to the darkness.
