Chapter 134
AUTHOR’S POV.
“You were right, Talia…” She whispered, voice trembling, the moment the call connected.
Talia’s voice came through immediately, concerned. “Alina? Are you crying? What happened?”
Alina choked on a sob. “He left,” she sniffled. “Lucian just… walked out and drove off.”
“Oh God, what do you mean he left? What happened?” Talia asked gently.

Alina’s words spilled out between broken breaths. “We got into a fight. A big one. It’s about Louis. He saw me having lunch with him-
“Oh no.” Talia cut in horrified.
“He told me to cut ties, but I said no. I tried to explain, God, I tried. But he wouldn’t hear me, it was like I was talking to a brick wall. He said it was either him or Louis…”
Talia stayed quiet, listening.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Alina continued tearfully. “Go ahead and say it. Say you told me so.”
“I’m not going to say that,” Talia replied softly. “You already feel terrible. There’s no need to make you feel shittier than you already do.”
Alina let out a bitter laugh, then wiped her tears with the back of her hand. “You’re always right, you know? I should’ve told him. I should’ve listened to you from the start…”
Talia’s voice was warm, steady. “You did what you thought was right at the time. That doesn’t make you a bad person, Alina.”
“I just didn’t want to burden him with something that felt like my mess, I just had two weeks left until my contract with Louis is over, I thought I could make it work,” Alina murmured. “But now… now I’ve made it
worse.”
“Everything will be fine baby.” Talia tried to assure her.
“I don’t think so Talia, you didn’t see the look on his face, I don’t think he is going to forgive me this time. Alina cried.
“This is Lucían we are talking about, he loves you and will definitely come around.” She assured her. “I can come over so you don’t have to be alone,” Talia offered without hesitation. “Do you want me to?”
Alina shook her head, even though Talia couldn’t see her. “No, it’s fine. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be okay.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah… I just need a moment.”

Talia kept her talking, distracting her with comforting words, helping her calm down. After a while, the call
ended.
Alina stood there for a few seconds longer, the silence of the evening pressing in. She turned and walked back inside, her heart heavy, every step slower than the last.
She sat on the couch, staring at the front door as if willing it to open, hoping he would come back.
But minutes turned into an hour, and still, nothing.
Maya peeked into the living room, her voice soft. “Would you like me to make dinner for you, ma’am?”
Alina didn’t even look up. “No… I’m not hungry.”
Maya hesitated. “Are you sure? You haven’t eaten since you came back. I could make something light-”
“No, thank you.” Her voice was hoarse. “I can’t eat.”
Alina did not think she could stomach anything at this point. Even the lunch she had earlier was long digested. Yes she was hungry but she couldn’t bring herself to eat.
Maya nodded gently, understanding the weight behind those words, and stepped back without pressing further.
Alina leaned back, eyes fixed on the ceiling. Her heart wouldn’t stop pounding. He didn’t even let Ace drive him… He always went with Ace. That was how angry he was.
And she had no idea if he’d be back tonight.
Soon after, Alina’s soft breathing was the only sound in the quiet living room as she finally drifted off on the couch, exhaustion overcoming her tears.

Meanwhile at another part of town late that night.
Lucian sat alone at the bar, the amber glow of liquor bottles lining the shelves reflected in his steely eyes.
The bartender, a broad–shouldered man with a neatly trimmed beard, polished a glass and glanced over.
“What’ll it be tonight, Mr. Blackwood?” He asked, voice low and practiced.
He was familiar with Lucian because Lucian owned the bar, one of many.
“Scotch,” Lucian replied tersely. “Neat.”
The bartender poured, sliding the tumbler across the mahogany counter, Lucian caught it without looking, lifting it to his lips in a single, precise motion. He set it down again, the ice clinking softly.
His phone buzzed. He flashed a glance at the screen: Maya. He answered on instinct.

“Sir?”
“She-” Maya’s voice softened with worry. “She refused to eat again.”
Lucian’s jaw tightened. “Understood.”

He ended the call, eyes darkening at the information, he had asked Maya to make sure Alina ate something, despite being mad at her.
He should have known she would be stubborn.
He turned back to his drink, swirling the liquid as if memories stirred within it.
A soft voice interrupted. “Excuse me-”
Lucian looked up. A striking woman in a sleek black dress hovered beside his stool, a confident smile playing on her lips.
“Do you mind some company?” She purred, sliding onto the next stool.
“No! Get lost.” Lucian growled lowly.
“Don’t be like that, I don’t know why such a good looking man is drinking alone but I can make you feel good.” She leaned in and whispered in his car, placing a manicured hand on his shoulder.
Lucian’s eyes snapped to her hand. In one swift movement, he gripped her by the throat, lifting her half out of her chair. The bar’s music and chatter seemed to fade.
Her eyes flew wide when she recognized who he was. “M..Mr. Blackwood?” she stammered, panic bleeding into her voice as she clawed at his fingers. “I…I’m so sorry! I……didnt kn..know-”
“Fuck off!“He released her instantly.
She dropped to the floor, hands pressed to her throat, crawling backward in terror. Her heels clicked against the hardwood as she fled, disappearing into the night.
There in the shadow unseen by Lucian, a female figure’s phone camera flashed once, capturing the moment the woman had leaned in and her hand had rested on his shoulder in a troublingly intimate angle.
Lucian watched her go, expression unreadable. He drained his glass and stood. Without a word, he stepped out into the cool night air.
When he arrived back at the mansion, Maya met him in the foyer, worry in her eyes.
“Sir, I tried again, she still wouldn’t eat. She’s passed out on the couch.”
Lucian’s heart clenched. “All right,” he said softly. “You can retire for the night.”
She nodded and slipped away. Lucian crossed the hall to the living room and paused.

There, under the pale lamplight, Alina lay curled on the couch, her cheeks damp with tears. The soft rise and fall of her chest spoke of sleep, but the stain on her pillow told him she had cried herself to sleep.
Although guilt and longing warred in his chest, he brushed it off. He too was hurting from her earlier choice.
He knelt beside her, gathering her gently in his arms, careful not to wake her up.
“Lucian.” She murmured in her sleep but didn’t wake.
He carried her up the stairs with surprising tenderness and laid her in their bed, tucking the covers around her as if protecting a wounded bird.
He stood for a long moment, watching her, shadows playing across her peaceful face. Then, quietly, he slipped out of the room.
When the morning light filtered through her curtains, Alina blinked awake. She turned, she didn’t know why she half expected him to be there, but the sheets were cool, and the bed beside her was empty.
She got up and went to the bathroom but she stopped in her tracks when from the corner of her eyes she caught sight of the closet.
Her heart fluttered with growing dread.
She rushed into the closet and looked around, his clothes were missing.
He was gone.
