AUTHOR’S POV.
At the announcement Talia finally exhaled. “Alright. You’re safe now.”
Alina yawns in exhaustion. “Thanks, Talia.”
“Always babydoll, see you soon.” Her friend whispered before the call ended.

“Miss, we’ll be taking off in a few minutes. Please fasten your seatbelt,” she said softly, reaching over to help if needed. “Can I get you anything? Water? Tea?”
Alina blinked slowly, her lashes heavy as she gave a tired shake of her head. “No… thank you.” She murmured.
“Alright,” the attendant said kindly. “If you need anything at all, just press the call button.”
“Sure will.”
With that, she stepped away just as the jet began to speed down the runway.
Alina leaned back against the seat the moment the plane lifted from the ground, she let out a shaky sigh of relief.
Her muscles loosened, her lashes heavy from exhaustion.
And for the first time that night, she closed her eyes and allowed herself to rest.
The cabin lights dimmed hours later as the pilot’s gentle voice came over the intercom.
“Good morning once again Miss Alina, this is your captain. We’ll be descending shortly and expect to land in approximately ten minutes. Please return to your seat and fasten your seat belts.”
Alina stirred, blinking the sleep from her eyes. She yawned, straightened her shoulders and settled back into her seat for the final approach.
Once on the ground and the jet’s door opened, the same flight attendant greeted her warmly in the aisle.
“Goodmorning, Miss Dawn. I hope you enjoyed your flight?”
Alina offered a small, sincere smile. “Actually, I did. It was very peaceful, thank you.”
Stepping onto the tarmac, Alina was met by a smartly dressed driver holding a polished nameplate.
“Miss Dawn? I’m Mark. I’ll be your driver to the hotel where Ms. Hart is staying.”
“Mark? Did Talia send you?” She asked, her voice low.

“Yes, ma’am. She asked me to collect you seeing as she was preoccupied to come get you herself.
Alina’s heart fluttered with lingering caution. She pulled out her phone and called Talia.
“Hey baby, landed already?” Talia’s soft voice came through the phone.
“Uhm yes I have.” Alina responded.
“How was the flight?”
“It was great. Yeah so there is a Mark here saying you sent him, did you.” Alina asked.
A soft chuckle came through the line. “Yes I did babydoll, relax and stop being paranoid, although it is understandable but you are safe with him.” Talia assures her.
“Okay.”
“See you in a bit, baby.” Talia said before ending the call.
Alina glanced at Mark and offered a relieved smile. “Thank you. Sorry, I-”
He waved a hand. “No apology needed. It’s better to be cautious.”
Alina smiled again at his understanding and slid into the car.
As they drove through the city streets, Alina forced small talk to quiet the swirl of thoughts about Lucian.
“So, Mark, you work for the company Talia is currently working with?”
He adjusted the rearview mirror. “Yes. Ma’am, I do.”
“How long have you been working with them?”
“For seven years now.” He responded.
“Oh wow, that’s a long time.” Alina stated.
“It goes by in a breeze trust me, I am currently assigned to Ms Hart for this engagement and she is a delight.” He said with a smile.
“Any downsides?”
“Well some clients can be rather demanding and sometimes rude but the pay and benefits are excellent so it’s a compensation.”
Alina laughed softly. “I imagine so.”
Soon, the sleek glass façade of a five–star hotel appeared. Alina gasped at the grandeur. “Wow.”
Mark stepped out to help with her luggage. “Welcome, Miss Dawn.”

Inside, the receptionist, poised and professional, greeted her with a flawless smile. “Good evening ma’am. How may I assist you?”
“I’m here to see Ms. Talia Hart.” Alina said.
“Of course, Ms. Dawn, Ms. Hart is expecting you.” The receptionist rang a bell, and within moments a bellboy appeared.
“This way, ma’am.” He said, rolling her suitcase toward the elevator.
The hotel’s lobby exuded opulence, from the marble floors to the crystal chandeliers, and Alina felt her chest unclench, the elegant surroundings slightly soothing her frazzled nerves.
On the floor above, he escorted her to a door and pressed the doorbell. Alina’s heart pounded. The door swung open immediately, Talia stood there, relief and joy lighting her face.
“Talia.” Alina whispered, her voice catching.
The bellboy stepped forward to help with her bag, but Talia stopped him. “No, thank you so much, I can take it from here.” She said.
He turned to leave but Alina hestopped him.
“Hold on.” Alina said, pulling out a wand of cash from her purse and pressing it into his palm.
“Thanks for the help.” She managed a smile.
He beamed back. “My pleasure, ma’am.” And he was gone.
The door clicked shut, and Alina turned to Talia.
“Hey, baby.” Talia murmured, arms open.
That soft greeting was all Alina needed. Her composure shattered as tears spilled down her cheeks.
She collapsed into Talia’s embrace, her body trembling with sobs.
Talia held her close, whispering comfort. And in that moment, Alina finally let herself feel safe again.
