Chapter 101
LILITH
At my question, Dean raised a brow, the corners of his lips tugging upwards in amusement.
“Leave? Where would I go?” His tone was light and teasing.
Heat rushed to my cheeks. I realized I’d jumped to conclusions far too quickly. “I just thought… never mind.”
He walked over and sat on the edge of the bed, studying me. “You sound… relieved. Let me guess -you thought I slipped out without a word while you were still asleep?”
Having my thoughts exposed, my face twisted into a scowl. “You’re overthinking it. That never crossed my mind.”
Dean chuckled, shaking his head with a glint of fondness in his eyes.
“Then I’m glad to hear that. But just so you know, I won’t be leaving your side anytime soon. A boyfriend naturally belongs by his girlfriend’s side, don’t you think?”
My face went hot again. Coupled with his gaze so intent, I panicked and looked away.
“I… I need to use the bathroom,” I stammered out and hopped off the bed.
Another low laugh followed as I shoved my feet into the slippers by the bed.
“Don’t take too long,” he said lightly. “Or the food will get cold.”
I paused where I stood.
So he had gone to make breakfast.
The realization warmed my heart, filling it with sweetness.
Pressing a hand to my racing heart, I hummed in acknowledgment without turning back and fled into the bathroom.
A while later – dining area.
Chapter 101
Dean had truly gone all out.
I thought as I sank into my chair and stared at the spread in front of me in surprise: scrambled eggs, sausages, buttered toast, orange juice and a small bowl of fruit…
“Are you sure we can finish all this?” I asked, glancing at him.
He leaned on one hand, watching me quietly. “Why not? You’ve been living off takeout all week. Your body needs to make up for the nutrition you’ve lost, so starting today, I’ll see to it that you cat proper meals.”
My ears colored with embarrassment.
He made it sound like I was hopeless at taking care of myself. Which… wasn’t entirely wrong.
Honestly, I had tried learning to cook after he left, but maybe I just had no talent for it- everything came out as a disastrous mess.
Once, I’d even come dangerously close to burning the kitchen down.
But he didn’t need to know all that.
“I’ve been busy,” I muttered, jabbing the egg with my fork. “Didn’t have time to cook.”

He leaned closer, a smirk at the corner of his lips. “So you do know how?”
As if he didn’t know better, I thought then shot him a glare. “What does that have to do with you?”
“Everything,” he said smoothly. “Because from now on, I plan to make cooking for you exclusively my lifelong duty.”
I nearly choked on my food.
Lifelong duty? What a smooth talker.
I resisted the ridiculous urge to smile, lowered my head and focused on eating.
Thankfully, he let the subject drop, and just like that, a comfortable silence settled between us as we ate side by side.
When we were done, I stood to gather my plate, then reached for Dean’s as well–only for his hand to shoot out and stop me.
“What are you doing?”

Chapter 101
“Washing the dishes,” I said matter–of–factly.
He rose at once, moving to take them from me. “No need. I’ll do it.
“No.” I refused, avoiding his outstretched hand. “You cooked, so it’s only right I do the dishes. Besides, this is my house. Wouldn’t it be ridiculous for the host to leave all the work to the guest?”
Dean arched a brow, a familiar mischievous glint sparking in his eyes. “A guest, huh? Funny… because I don’t recall guests being allowed to…” He leaned down without warning and stole a quick kiss, “…do this.”
My breath hitched.
By the time my brain caught up with both his words and the brush of his lips, my face flushed pink while my eyes darted away like a flustered teenager.
He was becoming increasingly… lawless
Out of the corner of my vision, I caught his faint, indulgent smile as he murmured..“My girlfriend is so adorable.”
Adorable, my foot! What was I, a toddler?
I bristled, ready to snap back, but he cut me off with an infuriatingly disarming smile–one that made my heart stumble with those cute dimples of his.
Ugh. That face of his would be the death of me.
“Come on.” He picked up his dishes and carried them to the sink. “Let’s do the dishes together.”
I blinked, snapping back to my senses. “Together? But there are only a few plates.”
“I know. But since neither of us plan to give in, doing it together is the only way to keep us both happy.”
I pressed my lips together, half–exasperated, half–amused.
Honestly, there was no winning against his twisted logic, so after a moment’s hesitation, I sighed helplessly and walked over too.
“Fine. Together it is.”
Of course, cunning as he was, I still ended up with the easier task–rinsing while he washed.

Chapter 101
Side by side, with our shoulders brushing now and then, with the clink of dishes and the soft rush of water filling the quiet morning… there was a strangely domestic atmosphere.
Like we were an old married couple.
Thump.
My heart skipped at the thought.
I shook my head to clear it away, but it clung to my mind stubbornly no matter how much I tried.
To distract myself, I glanced sideways–and immediately regretted it. Dean’s sleeves were rolled neatly to his elbows, his strong forearms flexing with each movement.
Focus, Lilith. Stop acting like a love–struck teenager.
As usual, the self–scolding session worked its charm, and I forced my attention back to the dishes.
Then I thought of a question I’ve been keeping to myself, and said in what I hoped sounded as casual as I intended it to be.
“So… when are you going back to Agate Country?”
His reply came instantly, without a beat of hesitation.
“Not anytime soon.
〃
I turned to look at him, startled by the finality in his tone.
To tell the truth, I’d already braced myself for the idea of a long–distance relationship after accepting him yesterday.
But the way he said it…
He met my gaze squarely.
“I’ve already handed over the headquarters to Blake. He’s more than capable of running things in my stead,” he continued, his tone calm and assured. “As for me… I’ll be opening and running the new branch here in Emerald City.”
My hand stilled on the plate I was rinsing.
He was… staying?
