Huo Jingrui finally got his wish. He had known it wouldn’t be that smooth. "Alright," he said. "You said it. As soon as you turn eighteen, I’ll file the report."
Since she had made up her mind about him, Yunyi didn’t play coy. "Okay," she agreed.
They had almost finished their conversation when the mixed-flour mantou and the braised pork were reheated.
Yunyi had already eaten. Not wanting anything greasy so late at night, she only took a small bite before putting down her chopsticks. "You should eat it while it’s hot," she urged.
Huo Jingrui didn’t hold back. "Tomorrow, I’ll get you some daily necessities and bring you some freshly made food."
Yunyi didn’t stop him; one shouldn’t always dampen someone’s enthusiasm.
After dinner, Huo Jingrui cleaned up on his own. The two of them were affectionate for a while before he reluctantly left.
Thinking about starting work the next day, Yunyi practiced her exercises in her space, took a bath, and then went to rest.
Early the next morning, Huo Jingrui arrived. Instead of knocking, he jumped over the wall into the yard.
Yunyi heard the commotion outside. When she came out, she found him already busy in the kitchen. Crossing her arms, she said with a teasing smile, "Why didn’t you wait outside?"
Huo Jingrui pulled her over. "We’ve just confirmed our relationship, and I’ll have to leave soon. Our time together is too precious to waste."
Yunyi hadn’t expected him to be so thick-skinned now; he was far more so than in their previous two lifetimes.
Releasing her, Huo Jingrui said, "I’ve boiled some water. You should wash up quickly. After breakfast, I’ll take you to the clinic up front."
Yunyi smiled and rolled up her sleeves. "It’s just a few steps away; there’s no need for you to escort me."
Huo Jingrui disagreed, saying, "I’m here, so naturally, I should go over and say hello."
That’s what he said, but he was thinking slyly to himself, I definitely need to make an appearance and let everyone know this young lady is taken.
When they arrived, only Nurse Chen Xiaojuan was at the clinic.
After saying that, she turned back to Yunyi. "Doctor Chu, just call me if you need anything."
Yunyi smiled at her. "Alright, you go on and get busy."
Huo Jingrui took a basin from the office, went out to fetch water, and returned. Yunyi found a rag under a wooden shelf. "I can do the cleaning," she offered.
But Huo Jingrui stopped her. "This office clearly hasn’t been cleaned in a while. Since I’m here, there’s no way I’m letting you do it."
He worked quickly. By the time Doctor Qiu arrived, the office already looked brand new.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, Yunyi stepped out with a smile. "Hello everyone. I’m officially starting work today. I look forward to working with you all and hope for your guidance."
Doctor Qiu smiled and then introduced everyone else at the clinic to Yunyi. "Come, let’s give a warm welcome to Doctor Chu for joining us!"
Hearing this, they all applauded.
