Ye Bingyu and Xia Dongxue followed them out and got into Huo Jingrui’s car.
After exchanging glances, the couple couldn’t help but turn their attention to Huo Jingrui.
After some consideration, it was Ye Bingyu who broke the silence. "Yunyi, may I ask who this is?"
Yunyi, sitting in the passenger seat, turned around to introduce them. "This is my fiancé, Huo Jingrui."
Upon hearing Yunyi’s introduction, Huo Jingrui spoke while driving, "Hello, Uncle and Auntie. I am Huo Jingrui."
The couple became unsettled. Their daughter had only just been found, they’d barely had any time with her, and now she already had a fiancé?
Ye Bingyu looked at Huo Jingrui with a hint of displeasure. "Comrade Huo, you look to be of a considerable age, don’t you?"
Huo Jingrui had previously served in the army with its constant training, so he naturally wasn’t the gentle and refined type. Moreover, after recently joining the factory, he had to complete his work there and carry out missions. Now, his hurried trip accompanying Yunyi back to the Capital had left him looking a bit rough around the edges.
When Huo Jingrui heard the question, he replied with a light smile, "Uncle, I am twenty-five this year, seven years older than Yi’er."
Hearing he was so much older than his daughter, Ye Bingyu grew quite displeased. "Marriage is a serious matter, not something to be taken lightly. Yunyi is still young; there’s no rush for this."
As he spoke, there was a lack of confidence in his voice. After all, his daughter wasn’t even willing to live with the Ye Family, so she was even less likely to listen to him about her marriage.
Their daughter, with whom they hadn’t had the chance to bond, already seemed to be spoken for. It bothered him, and he just felt compelled to pick an argument.
Xia Dongxue tugged at her husband’s sleeve and shot him a warning glance. She was terrified that if they interfered too much, Yunyi would become even more reluctant to associate with them, and she would regret it to death.
This statement completely stunned Ye Bingyu. Was this truly a done deal, with no room for negotiation?
Xia Dongxue was more composed. From Huo Jingrui’s self-introduction, she gathered he was an outstanding young man, and not bad-looking either. Although he was considerably older than her daughter, an older man would be more caring, which she didn’t see as an issue.
Since their marriage was already decided, and the young man’s background and character were commendable, they, as parents, felt they shouldn’t express too many opinions.
Besides, in Yunyi’s eyes, they were merely her biological parents, perhaps only a fraction better than strangers in her heart. Having failed their daughter so much, how could they possibly dictate her marriage?
For a while, the car was very quiet.
The restaurant wasn’t too far away, located at the very end of an alley. It was a private restaurant; without Huo Jingrui leading the way, they probably wouldn’t have been able to enter the courtyard.
As soon as they entered, someone came out to greet them. "Jingrui, you’re here?"
Huo Jingrui replied with a smile, "Uncle Nian, I’ve been craving the fish and mutton you make. Do you have the ingredients today?"
The man called Uncle Nian laughed heartily. "If you’re here, then of course we do. Just wait and enjoy."
After speaking, he instructed a young man who had come out from the inner courtyard, "Liuzi, take these guests to House No. 3, and brew them a pot of the Qihong tea I got recently. Let them have a taste."
