"What happened? Why did you stop here?" She turned to him fully, leaning the side of her head on the car seat.

Adrian placed a hand on the steering wheel, his gaze slowly scanning her face, "What's on your mind?"

Ella chuckled, "Now you even want to know what's in my mind? That's too controlling, Mr. King, don't you think so?"

Ella joked as she shifted to look ahead but before she could turn around fully, long fingers gripped her chin.

Adrian tilted her face towards him, dangling her chin in a way so she looked directly into his eyes, "I want to know every cause of your concern."

Ella was stunned for a moment before she burst into laughter, "You cannot solve all my problems, Adrian, no matter how invincible you are."

"Try me."

Ella's eyes twinkled with a teasing glint, "What if I want the garden of Eve Mansion to be surrounded by a sky full of rainbows?"

"Or what if I want to see the North Star in broad daylight?"

"Or maybe I want to walk on water like a goddess."

Adrian fell silent.

"See?" Ella blinked her eyes, "In this life, we have our own paths. No matter how much you want to protect me or support me, even you cannot control everything."

'Silence'

Ella felt speechless.

Even after all that she said, Adrian did not release his grip on her chin.

If anything, the man wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her onto himself, lifting her just enough so she did not bump anywhere.

Her legs were positioned on either side of his thighs and her back was pressed gently against the steering wheel.
