Chapter 161

Chapter 161

Congrats,Charlotte said flatly.

With a bashful yet hopeful look, Melody asked again, Charlotte, will you come to our wedding?

Charlotte was about to say no, but Melody kept going, We were close in high school. Sure, I’ve let bygones be bygones. Surely you’re not still mad at me and Griffin?

were some misunderstandings, but after all these years,

Charlotte frowned and thought, So if I don’t go, that means I’m still angry? But am I really supposed to force myself to attend their wedding?

Sophia pushed up her sunglasses with her finger. Misunderstandings? Can you speak more?

Melody then saw Sophia standing behind Charlotte. Who’s this?she asked.

Sophia said, I’m her sister.

Melody sized Sophia up. Sophia liked to wear comfy clothes, always bundled up in a hat, mask, and sunglasses.

She only cared about comfort, not the priceher whole outfit probably cost less than 200 dollars.

A look of disgust flashed across Melody’s eyes. How weirdI’ve never heard her mention you.

Sophia smirked. What a coincidenceI’ve never heard my sister mention you either.”

Melody looked both embarrassed and hurt. That’s only because there was a misunderstanding between us,she said.

Sophia asked, So, did you ever clear it up?

Melody stayed quiet. Sophia scoffed, The misunderstanding hasn’t even been cleared up. What gives you the right to ask her to move on?

She added, You’re inviting my sister to your wedding without even sending a wedding invite? Just casually throwing out an invite when you bump into her on the street? What a sloppy way to plan a wedding.

Melody got so angry her face turned pale. Sophia looked at Griffin beside her, giving him a slow onceover from head to toe, which made Melody even madder. What are you staring at?she snapped.

Sophia tilted her chin at him. So you’re Griffin Hartwick?

Griffin thought Sophia was into him and flashed a smug smile. That’s right,he said.

Sophia cut straight to the point: What’s your connection with Miles?

Griffin’s face changed dramatically. Melody yanked him closer and snapped at Charlotte, Control your little sister, will you? Does she have to throw herself at every guy like she’s never seen one before?

Griffin felt a wave of panic. He said to Melody, Don’t talk nonsense. She was just saying hi to me.

Melody’s face fell, her eyes welling up with hurt as she looked at him. You’re taking their side? You’re still not over Charlotte, are you?

Griffin sighed in frustration. Can you please stop/making such a scene?

Melody shot back, It’s clearly they started it!

Sophia cut her off sharply, If you care so much about your guy, you might as well lock him up at home. Otherwise, he might just fall for other girls

stares.

Melody shot Sophia a furious glare, but before she could say a word, Griffin grabbed her by the arm and dragged her away.

Chapter 161

Sophia stared at their backs, deep in thought.

Sophia,Charlotte called softly.

Charlotte said, You seem quite interested in the Hartwick family.

Sophia shrugged. The Hartwick family is rather mysterious.

Charlotte nodded and said, Let’s find somewhere to sit down and talk.

The two of them found a nearby cafe and settled in for a chat.

Charlotte said, Griffin Hartwick used to be Griffin Dawson.

Sophia sipped her coffee and listened intently.

Charlotte continued, The Hartwick and Dawson families were once linked by marriage. The Hartwicks have always kept a low profile. Eventually, they became a reclusive family and gradually distanced themselves from the Dawsons.

While the Hartwick family kept a low profile, the Dawson family was always in the spotlight. For some reason, the Dawsons suddenly wanted to get close to the Hartwicks again, so they changed Griffin’s last name to Hartwick.

Charlotte’s lips curled into a smile. She said, My family knows only a little about the Hartwicks.

The Hartwick family line was rather thin, and about a century ago, the Hartwicks suddenly ordered their descendants to conceal their true identities. It wasn’t until the past thirty years that they gradually started to reemerge.”

Sophia listened quietlynot that she actually cared about the Hartwick family. She just wanted to figure out whether Guardian and the Hartwicks were targeting her. They might be pissed if a powerful enemy suddenly showed up.

Charlotte still had work to do, so after bidding her farewell, Sophia headed back to Jelasburg University. Enduring curious stares all along the way, she finally made it back to her dorm room.

As Sophia stepped in, she saw Vivienne sprawled on her bed, gaming away. Diana and Nadia were nowhere to be seen. Sophia booted up her laptop and wiped every trace of her subway incident from the internet.

[What’s going on? Can’t watch it anymore.]

[Seriously? That video was actually good. Why remove it?]

[Good! That kind of behavior in the video shouldn’t be encouraged anyway.]

[Exactly. Faking illness to scare an elderly person is totally out of line. What if he had a heart condition and something serious happened? Who’d be responsible then?]

[Don’t blow things out of proportion. These seathogging seniors are full of energy when yelling and even stronger than the young in a fight. If they really had heart problems, would they get physical? They’re just faking it for sympathy.]

The argument flared up, but Sophia couldn’t care less. After finishing her task, she went to freshen up, only to discover the balcony door was loved. She tried the handle a few times, but it wouldn’t budge.

Just as she was about to look for the key, a faint voice suddenly drifted in from the balcony: Sophia.

Sophia froze. Through the glass window separating the dorm room from the balcony, she saw Nadia huddled against the railing, her face deathly pale and drenched in sweat.

Sophia instantly understood what was going on. Her face darkened, eyes icy, a chilling aura enveloping her. She grabbed a chair and hurled it straight at Vivienne.

Chapter 161

Vivienne shrieked in terror. Sophia yanked her off the bed, leaving her legs dangling in midair. As Vivienne opened her mouth to scream again, Sophia shoved a dirty rag between her teeth.

Sophia drove her fist into Vivienne’s chest, yanked the dirty rag from her mouth, and growled: Where’s the key?

Wwhat key?Vivienne gasped, her face twisted in pain.

Another punch hit her chest. My ribs are gonna snap!Vivienne thought to herself, panicking inside.

Sophia grabbed her hair hard and pushed her down, saying, Talk or I’ll pluck every last hair from your head.
