Reborn to Burn Them All novel Chapter 50

Sophia had no clue she’d been branded as the “crazy one” in their conversations. With Howard stuck in the hospital, the Chandler residence had quieted down significantly. Whenever the others weren’t around, Yvette went out of her way to avoid her.

During this time, Sophia breezed through her driving exams, scoring perfect marks on both.

That day, Sophia was busy tinkering with her metal parts while answering Yvonne’s questions over a voice call.

“Sophia, am I just hopelessly dumb?” Yvonne asked cautiously after failing to grasp a problem even after Sophia explained it twice.

“Yeah, pretty much,” Sophia replied without hesitation.

The metal parts Sophia was working on had started to take shape–a round, plump object was forming.

Yvonne, feeling a bit crushed, asked dejectedly, “If I’m really this dumb, why do you even bother teaching me?”

Sophia’s notes were so valuable that people were willing to pay thousands for them–even for copies. Yet, not only had Sophia given Yvonne her notes for free, but she also took the time to help her with questions.

Sophia placed the round object on the table and said matter–of–factly, “Probably because you hate Howard.”

Yvonne froze, rubbing her head as she processed the unexpected answer. She wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or disappointed.

Soon, she snapped out of it, lightly patting her cheeks to refocus herself. “Don’t worry, Sophia! I’ll prove I can do it!” she said with renewed determination.

Sophia corrected her, “It’s not about proving it to me–it’s about proving it to yourself.”

Sophia had just ended her call with Yvonne when a commotion erupted outside.

Standing on the balcony, Sophia watched as Monica, who had long lost her former elegance, dragged Kevin inside. Her voice was sharp as she berated him, “Kevin, you better listen to me! If it weren’t for Yvette, our Sampson family wouldn’t have fallen apart!

“She’s the one who ruined everything! If you still feel sorry for her, how can you face your father?

“Don’t forget. Your father is about to be sentenced!” Monica’s voice cracked, and she broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

Kevin opened his mouth, as if wanting to defend Yvette, but in the end, he chose to remain silent.

Inside the Chandler residence, the servants hurried to inform Jonathan and Heather.

The moment Yvette saw Kevin, her face turned pitiful and aggrieved, which immediately tugged at his heartstrings. “Yvette,” he called out softly.

Monica, seeing this, stormed over and slapped Yvette across the face. “You cursed jinx! Still playing the victim, huh? If it were. or you, the Sampson family wouldn’t be in ruins!

“It’s all because of your man–stealing ways! If you want to seduce someone, go seduce someone else! Why did you have to ruin Kevin?

“We the Sampson family took care of you for over a decade, and this is how you repay us? You ungrateful tramp! Let me show you what you deserve!”

Yvette, trembling, didn’t dare fight back as Monica grabbed her hair and slapped her repeatedly. She could only cry and plead, “I swear, Monica, I didn’t do anything! Please believe me!“,

“Mom, stop it!” Kevin couldn’t bear to watch any longer. Seeing Monica refuse to relent, he stepped forward, grabbed her arm, and pushed her away.

Monica collapsed to the floor, staring in disbelief as her son ignored her and rushed to comfort the one who had destroyed their family.

A wave of icy despair washed over her, and she broke down in tears, utterly hopeless.

Kevin was holding Yvette’s face, his voice full of concern. “Yvette, are you okay? Does it hurt? I’m sorry. It’s all my mom’s fault.”

Kevin’s face twisted in fury, his eyes bloodshot as he trembled with the urge to lash out.

“You dare glare at me?” Sophia grabbed the empty plate and flung it at him without hesitation.

The plate hit its mark, splitting Kevin’s forehead open. Blood streamed down his face.

“Kevin!” Yvette screamed in panic, tears streaming down her face as she stammered. “Your head is bleeding! What should we do?”

Monica shoved Yvette aside, her voice sharp and venomous. “You miserable jinx, get away from him!”

“Kevin!” Monica grabbed a tissue and pressed it against his bleeding wound. Her voice trembled with rage as she barked, “Sophia, Yvette, you’ve done it now! I’m calling the police. You attacked my son, and you’ll pay for this!”

Yvette, who had been fretting over Kevin’s injury, froze at those words. Her eyes flickered with hesitation as she pleaded, “Monica, Sophia didn’t mean it. Please don’t call the police.”

Despite the dizziness from his injury, Kevin quickly reassured her, “Yvette, don’t worry. I’m fine.”

“Fine? Are you blind? You’re bleeding like this and still saying you’re fine? I’m calling the police, and this isn’t over!” Monica’s determination only grew as she pressed the tissue harder against Kevin’s wound and reached for her phone.

“I’ve already called them,” Sophia’s voice rang out as she descended the stairs, her phone dangling in her hand. She tilted her head, her smile deceptively sweet yet chilling, “Want me to call an ambulance too? I’m happy to help.”
