Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin decided to stay, but hadn’t yet discussed the next steps with Sarah.
Gunshots suddenly rang out.
Chu Yin reacted instinctively: "What’s going on? Didn’t it just end?"
Sarah pulled out a gun from under her pillow without hesitation.
"Looks like Haley’s infiltration is deeper than mine. Aside from the butler, don’t trust anyone around you."
Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin nodded, instinctively pulling out the guns given to them by the butler earlier.
Seeing this, Sarah chuckled.
"You two are tougher than I imagined. Usually, women who come here either cry or beg for mercy. You both look terrified but act like you’re here for fun."
"Sis, I’m already nervous, and now you’re making me even more nervous. I’m really afraid of dying. You don’t know I’m a star now—I have a promising future."
Chu Yin called her "sis" fluently.
Sarah found Chu Yin particularly charming at this moment, perhaps due to some past life connection.
"Big star, hurry up and leave, or you’ll end up dying young."
"Let’s go."
Chu Yin held a gun without even unlocking the safety, putting on a brave front as she stood ahead.
She raised her hand and said, "Sis, you’re hurt. Zhiyi and I will protect you."
Sarah looked at the gun in her hand: "I’m scared you’ll accidentally shoot me, step aside."
Chu Yin pursed her lips and stepped aside.
Lin Zhiyi said, "You get discovered wherever you go, hiding like this isn’t a solution. Maybe we should think of another strategy."
Sarah walked to the window, taking a deep breath as she looked at the scene not far away.
"You’re right. Even if I run now, I’ll probably be discovered as soon as I arrive somewhere new. I can’t keep this up; I’m exhausted, and my people will be too. But if we don’t leave, Haley might collaborate with insiders."
Lin Zhiyi felt that during a shootout, her stamina definitely wasn’t sufficient.
But she knew a bit about the wisdom passed down from their ancestors.
"Then don’t leave, and not just that—let’s act like everything is settled, make them believe we have trump cards in hand, forcing them to hesitate."
"A show for the traitors?"
"Yes, they’ll naturally pass the message on. Haley’s already taken losses, she wouldn’t dare make any rash moves," Lin Zhiyi analyzed.
"Makes sense. Help me call the butler, I’ll have her organize the matters below, and you two stick with me to put on a good show," Sarah said.
"No problem, I’ll help you, and eliminate a key figure too," Lin Zhiyi laughed.
Sarah stared at her for a while.
"Your appearance doesn’t match your personality—it’s unclear who you resemble."
Chu Yin raised her hand: "I know, she resembles her husband, just as cunning."
Lin Zhiyi pressed her lips together.
Sarah laughed: "I’d like to meet him; I’m curious about someone who can get the better of Haley."
Over half an hour later.
Sarah’s trusted subordinates gathered in the study.
They whispered among themselves, seemingly speculating about Sarah’s intentions.
One man, wearing a gold chain and a tattoo covering half his face, squinted as he observed the surroundings.
"Why haven’t they left yet? Staying here—are we waiting for Haley to burst in?"
The man in a suit opposite him calmly said, "Follow Sarah’s lead, I trust her."
"Sarah’s injured and needs a safe place to rest. I can gather people to send her away immediately," said Gold Chain.
The man in the suit said nothing more, just furrowed his brow.
In short time, Sarah entered.
Lin Zhiyi and Chu Yin followed behind her.
What should have been a tense atmosphere was made more unbearable for Chu Yin and Lin Zhiyi by the various fragrances.
They say foreigners are marinated in perfume—turns out it’s true.
Chu Yin gently rubbed her nose.
