Chu Yin’s crying was earth-shattering, startling the doctors outside who almost rushed in.
It was Zhou Zhao who raised a hand to stop them.
"It’s just some playful banter; you foreigners wouldn’t understand."
The doctors confirmed that everything was alright before leaving.
Inside the ward, Chu Yin cried for a while and felt a pair of hands embrace her.
She paused, lifted her eyes slightly, and found Sang Li staring at her.
She sat up and wiped her tears: "I didn’t squish you, did I?"
Sang Li looked at her increasingly swollen eyes and said gently: "Ah Yin, how long have you been without sleep?"
Another "Ah Yin."
Chu Yin felt her ears tingle and couldn’t help her wandering thoughts.
"You... haven’t really become silly, have you?"
"Can’t you wish me well for once?" Sang Li rubbed his eye corners, "Why do you think I’ve lost my memory?"
"It’s all the doctor’s fault. He said you hit your head when jumping from the car and might have brief amnesia. I saw you looking dazed and thought you really lost your memory." Chu Yin explained.
"So you took advantage of me?"
Sang Li leaned against the pillow, looking relaxed, not appearing angry.
Chu Yin muttered: "I was going to say I’m your wife, worried you’d be even more mad."
Sang Li propped a hand behind his head, looking leisurely.
"How do you know I’d be mad?"
Chu Yin froze, turning to stare at him: "You’re not mad?"
"Hmm."
"Then did I miss a chance? Should we start over?" Chu Yin rested her chin in her hand.
"Quit joking."
"I’m so unlucky." Chu Yin said.
Sang Li saw her regretful look and couldn’t help but laugh.
"Ah Yin, actually I..."
"Zzz..."
After going through so much, just as Sang Li was about to deepen the conversation with Chu Yin, her snoring drowned his words.
Looking down, he saw Chu Yin had already fallen asleep at the bedside.
Sang Li was simultaneously amused and exasperated.
After getting up, he carried Chu Yin onto the bed to let her sleep more comfortably.
Listening to her steady breathing, he felt unusually at ease.
Unconsciously, Sang Li drew closer to Chu Yin’s face, about to touch her when Zhou Zhao knocked and came in.
Sang Li immediately sat up straight.
This time, Zhou Zhao saw Chu Yin occupying the bed and asleep, but didn’t tease them; instead, he lowered his voice.
"Young Master, Haley and the Bai family people have been apprehended, Sarah has already handed the evidence to Captain Xing, and we and Third Young Master’s people secretly escorted Captain Xing back. The evidence should have been handed to trustworthy people by now, and it shouldn’t be long before the Bai family is completely convicted."
Upon hearing this, Sang Li breathed a sigh of relief.
He asked, "How are Third Young Master and Lin Zhiyi?"
"They’re fine. Thanks to the photo of Lin Zhiyi fainting, it caused quite a stir domestically. Now that the obituary is out, Third Young Master has made a safe escape. And the Rein family knows Haley killed him, so no one is stepping up to defend Haley. Sarah also has firmly secured her current position." Zhou Zhao said.
Sang Li nodded.
"Everything has finally settled."
"Young Master, how do you plan to explain all this to Chu Yin?" Zhou Zhao asked curiously.
No one would simply risk their life coming here without reason.
Sang Li replied calmly: "I won’t say. It’s best if she doesn’t know."
Zhou Zhao hesitated for a moment and then burst into laughter.
"Young Master, your attitude towards Chu Yin is starkly different. Does it mean..."
"Don’t start with that, the relatives at home are already exasperating. I just want a few days of peace, and Chu Yin isn’t ready to deal with these things yet."
Sang Li glanced at Chu Yin on the bed.
Zhou Zhao smirked: "Alright, I get it."
Sang Li gave him a sideways glance: "Since you get it, your annual leave is over too."
"Okay."
Zhou Zhao didn’t dare to ask for more vacation days.
Sang Li looked at him and continued: "By the way, Chen Jin got injured this time too; go check on him for me."
"Alright, I’ll visit him on your behalf."
After saying this, Zhou Zhao was gone.
