Reborn to Outshine My Ex and His White Moonlight novel Chapter 434

Chapter 434: Chapter 434: Do You Miss Me?

Lin Zhiyi brought Gong Chen back to the inn, where Xingxing was playing around with Liao Yi.

As soon as she saw the visitors, Xingxing froze for a moment. She seemed like she wanted to walk toward Gong Chen, but then she shrank back behind Liao Yi, clearly a little upset.

She raised her eyes to glance at Lin Zhiyi.

Lin Zhiyi understood that Xingxing was afraid she might feel sad.

She proactively pointed at the man beside her and said, "Go ahead."

Xingxing immediately ran over happily.

Gong Chen scooped her up in one motion. "Missed me?"

Xingxing huffed without speaking, but she nestled herself into his embrace.

Liao Yi clapped discreetly and teased, "I heard from Zhiyi that Third Young Master was going back, and it startled me."

"I do have to return, but I’m taking them back with me," Gong Chen responded.

"Alright then."

Liao Yi felt a bit wistful. It was hard to get close enough to make real friends, only for them to suddenly be separating again.

What she couldn’t bear to part with most was little Xingxing.

"Xingxing, when you’re outside, be good and listen to your mom. If anything happens, call me."

"Mm." Xingxing nodded earnestly.

Gong Chen spoke directly: "You should come with us."

Liao Yi barely had time to feel sad before she was startled and pointed at herself in surprise. "Me? I’m going too? Why?"

"You know too much. If you don’t want to risk your life, you’ll follow us."

"Alright, Third Young Master." Liao Yi agreed without a second of hesitation, nodding fervently like a pecking chick. "I’ll go pack my luggage and stop intruding on your family of three."

After Liao Yi left, Lin Zhiyi went to the shop to sort out some matters. Her rental term wasn’t up yet, so it was impossible to close the shop.

She temporarily selected a shop manager to handle things for her.

When she came back to the room after finishing her arrangements, Xingxing was leaning against Gong Chen on the carpet, reading a picture book.

Though Xingxing had already read these picture books before—more than once, in fact—she still had Gong Chen accompany her to read them again.

A child’s thoughts were simple and obvious.

Even though she was already a bit sleepy, she kept pointing at the next picture book.

Lin Zhiyi walked forward and said, "Xingxing, he’s not going anywhere, you don’t have to read so many at once. Go brush your teeth and get ready for bed."

Xingxing still looked toward Gong Chen, half-convinced.

Gong Chen nodded and promised, "I won’t leave."

Only then did Xingxing satisfyingly get up and go to brush her teeth. On the way, she even sneaked a couple of backward glances.

After she brushed her teeth, Lin Zhiyi helped her take a bath.

Meanwhile, Gong Chen sat on the carpet, casually picking up an album of drawings. It seemed to contain Xingxing’s artwork.

Although the drawings were done quite casually, it was clear she had inherited some of Lin Zhiyi’s artistic skills.

But many parts of her artwork had blank spaces.

After flipping through the album once, Gong Chen immediately understood what those spaces were meant to be filled with.

Taking advantage of Xingxing’s bath time, he picked up some drawing pens and got to work.

By the time Lin Zhiyi led Xingxing out of the bathroom, Gong Chen was still sitting there, flipping through the child’s scattered moments and memories.

Xingxing was about to run toward Gong Chen when Lin Zhiyi pointed at the bed and said, "Go to sleep."

Xingxing’s health wasn’t good—she couldn’t afford to get overtired; otherwise, her immune system would weaken, leaving her vulnerable to all kinds of illnesses.

Though these illnesses weren’t particularly serious, they were draining for everyone.

Adults got worn out, and the child suffered too.

Xingxing pouted and climbed onto the bed.

She slept on a bed attached to the side of the big bed, covered with an adorable panda blanket.

As soon as she lay down, she felt something under the pillow.

"Mom, under the pillow," Xingxing called out, instantly burrowing into Lin Zhiyi’s embrace.

Lin Zhiyi originally intended to coax her to sleep, but upon hearing that, she reached into Xingxing’s pillow.

She pulled out a drawing album.

"It’s your own drawing album. Did you put it there yourself and forget about it?"

"No, I didn’t put it there." Xingxing muttered, taking the album from her. As soon as she opened it, her eyes widened. "Mom, look!"

Lin Zhiyi leaned closer and found that all the blank spaces in the original album had been filled.
