Lin Zhiyi pondered for a moment before solemnly asking, "Mr. Sang, does your father truly want to keep Sang Ran’s child? Is it not simply because the child is a union of the Gong and Sang Families?"
"Of course not. He just can’t bear to lose Xiao Ran. But Xiao Ran doesn’t want to return to him, and that’s already broken his heart. If Xiao Ran were to pass away in the end, my father would be completely devastated."
After saying this, Sang Li added, "But rest assured, since we’ve decided to have Xiao Ran get divorced, I absolutely won’t let her have this child."
"But I don’t quite understand what you meant earlier."
Lin Zhiyi glanced at Li Huan and Zhou Zhao. They were obviously curious as well.
She spoke softly, "Sang Ran wants a child. The Sang Family wants Sang Ran’s child. But Third Young Master doesn’t want it, nor can he have it, because this child absolutely cannot fall into Old Mr. Gong’s hands. Whichever family wants the child can have it—just as long as it isn’t Third Young Master’s."
It’s a bit convoluted, but that’s essentially the logic.
Li Huan widened her eyes. "Your idea is bold—what a trick to deceive everyone. As long as Sang Ran lets go of her obsession, some things might finally come to an end."
Like her life.
But at least it would be a beautiful lie, satisfying her unwillingness while sparing Gong Chen.
When Lin Zhiyi saw Xingxing, this thought had fleetingly crossed her mind, but she chose to deliberately ignore it.
Now, however, it seemed that aside from severing Sang Ran’s final emotional bond, there was simply no better solution.
Given Lin Zhiyi’s understanding of Old Mr. Gong, he would absolutely refuse to let Sang Ran die without any value.
At least not yet.
And once the Sang Family learns about Sang Ran’s condition, they’ll go to great lengths to save her.
Even Gong Chen—he couldn’t possibly neglect the woman who saved his life.
As for Sang Ran, she’s even more unwilling to let go, clinging to the last breath of life out of sheer defiance.
Gong Chen mentioned that Sang Ran has to get a life-saving needle every two weeks, with each shot costing 1.5 million.
This is why, even though Sang Ran’s body has essentially been declared dead, she’s still stubbornly limping along.
But the life-saving needle isn’t omnipotent; eventually, it becomes impossible to control.
Especially since Sang Ran has been recklessly pushing her body to the limit for the past year.
So, for both Gong Chen and Sang Li, this situation feels like a dead end.
She doesn’t want to die, and no one else can bear to watch her die.
They torment one another this way, and no one knows what Sang Ran will do next.
This is Sang Li’s deepest concern. He doesn’t want his beloved, spirited sister to leave the world burdened by all her mistakes.
Seeing this, Lin Zhiyi finally voiced her thoughts.
But she was still hesitant in her heart.
"Actually, this isn’t fair to the child."
Sang Li replied, "My father has always hoped that I would marry Xiao Ran and have children. Then he could retire early and help raise the child. With my father and me around, there wouldn’t be any problems for the child. This might not be such a bad solution, really—it could even let Xiao Ran leave peacefully."
Zhou Zhao interjected, "But this plan requires Third Young Master to cooperate. Will Third Young Master agree?"
"I can." Gong Chen entered the room and nodded. "I can cooperate, but the condition is that Sang Ran must first agree to divorce and sign the agreement."
Although no marriage certificate had been obtained, their wedding was widely known.
To ensure that Lin Zhiyi and Xingxing could be publicly recognized in the future, this agreement had to be signed.
Sang Li agreed. "Alright. When we arrive in Jing City, I’ll go with you to discuss this matter with Xiao Ran. For now, it means Zhiyi and Xingxing will have to bear with the inconvenience."
Lin Zhiyi shook her head with a smile. "It’s fine. For me, Xingxing’s health is what matters most now."
After the discussion, Sang Li and the others found an excuse and left the small lounge.
Gong Chen held Xingxing and sat beside Lin Zhiyi.
Lin Zhiyi took Xingxing’s hand and pointed out the plane’s window. "Look, the weather is beautiful."
With his other hand, Xingxing grabbed Gong Chen’s hand and placed it on Lin Zhiyi’s. Now all three of their hands were together.
Gong Chen placed his large hand over theirs, completely enveloping the small hand and the smaller one.
With a broad smile, Xingxing’s eyes curved into crescents.
