Hearing the sound, Lin Zhiyi was momentarily dazed.
Turning around to look at the approaching person, she finally reacted.
Xia Wan.
Lin Zhiyi slowly stood up, scrutinizing Xia Wan in front of her.
She was wearing a black dress.
Romantic curls were pinned at the back of her head, adorned with a simple daisy-shaped hairpin.
This is not an ordinary style, typically dressed like this for memorials or funerals.
Lin Zhiyi cautiously said, "Miss Xia, you are..."
Xia Wan gave a bitter smile: "A relative of my family is buried here, I’m accompanying the family to pay respects."
Speaking this, she looked down nearby.
Amid the rows of small trees, a black silhouette swayed in the distance.
Slender and delicate.
Lin Zhiyi felt she had seen it somewhere before, trying to get a clearer view when Xia Wan walked up to her.
"Miss Lin, you are also..."
As she spoke, Gong Chen behind Lin Zhiyi slowly stood up, turning toward the suddenly appearing person.
Xia Wan raised her eyes to meet his gaze, a slight smile on her lips.
Gong Chen paused for a moment.
After a few seconds of eye contact, Lin Zhiyi also sensed something unusual.
Gong Chen wouldn’t stare at a stranger woman for so long without reason.
Lin Zhiyi coughed lightly.
"Third Young Master, do you know her?"
Gong Chen snapped back to his senses, withdrew his gaze: "No, but I’ve heard of you, hello, President Xia."
"Third Young Master, you flatter me, I’m too inexperienced before you." Xia Wan humbly nodded, "Hope you can guide me in the future."
Gong Chen did not reply, but he did not refuse either.
Xia Wan glanced at the photo on the tombstone and the inscription.
She said apologetically, "Sorry for the disturbance."
Then she turned to Lin Zhiyi.
"Miss Lin, you carry on, I’m leaving now."
"Hmm."
Lin Zhiyi felt she didn’t have much to say to her, so didn’t insist on making her stay.
Xia Wan turned away directly, took a glance at Gong Chen, and then slowly descended the mountain.
Until her silhouette shrank, behind the trees, she said something to that figure and vanished together.
Lin Zhiyi suspiciously turned to Gong Chen: "You really don’t know her?"
"Indeed don’t know." Gong Chen said, "But the position here on the mountain is Gong Family’s cemetery."
Lin Zhiyi paused slightly, she walked down a layer and found it still belonged to the Gong Family.
"Why is Xia Wan here? Feels off, should we inquire?"
How could Xia Wan’s relative be buried near Gong Family members?
Gong Chen calmly said: "If you ask, she will tell you she made a mistake, as she came accompanying others."
Lin Zhiyi suspiciously stared at Gong Chen.
Hoping he would give her an explanation.
Gong Chen pointed at the cemetery below.
"Public cemetery. Can’t see here from above."
Lin Zhiyi exclaimed: "Could it be... she’s waiting for me? Doesn’t seem right, she couldn’t possibly know I’d come here."
Not even her assistant knew she would take a break here today.
Gong Chen looked below: "That’s why I looked at her for a while."
Lin Zhiyi pursed her lips: "Did you discern anything?"
"No."
"I thought you stared for so long, you’d have some thoughts." Lin Zhiyi remarked.
Gong Chen chuckled: "Are you jealous?"
Lin Zhiyi shook her head: "No, moreover, your gaze hasn’t changed, just think out of courtesy, you wouldn’t stare at others."
Gong Chen reached out to hug her shoulder.
"You’re getting to know me better, even jealousy has no chance anymore."
"You’re just like you were before, maybe I could be a bit jealous." Lin Zhiyi said.
"No way, promised you wouldn’t be like before." Gong Chen firmly refused.
Lin Zhiyi smiled: "Let’s clean up here quickly."
