A middle-aged man walked in.
He looked down at Chu Yin, with no trace of guilt on his face.
It was Father Chu.
Chu Yin stared at him in disbelief.
"Why?"
"Why what? I didn’t even know it was your car. I just felt unwell passing by, and accidentally scraped it a bit. How was I supposed to know you fell into the water? I just got out of the hospital, and since you’re fine, why haven’t you come to check on your dad? That’s unfilial."
As soon as Father Chu spoke, he accused Chu Yin of being at fault.
Chu Yin took a deep breath and smirked coldly.
"Scraped? You scraped my car twice on such a wide road? Did you think the surveillance cameras were just for show? You say you didn’t know I was in the car, then why did you get out to check?"
Father Chu frowned, retorting, "What do you mean by this? How dare you question your dad like this? I saw you were fine, and I wasn’t feeling well, so I had to go to the hospital first. Do you want me to die?"
"Who’s wishing for whose death? Let’s not even talk about whether you did it on purpose, what you’re doing now is called hit-and-run, it’s illegal."
Chu Yin looked at Father Chu coldly.
Father Chu had never seen her like this before, his face darkened.
He snorted, "I just scraped your car, why can’t you tell the police not to press charges?"
Chu Yin suddenly realized something.
No wonder Father Chu was so confident, whether she died or not, he could use his identity as her father to escape charges.
If she died, her mom wouldn’t press charges.
If she lived, he could use his position as her father to force her to drop the charges.
Chu Yin stared at him until his eyes revealed guilt.
She said expressionlessly, "Dad, your calculations are wrong. First, the car isn’t mine. Just because I don’t press charges doesn’t mean the company won’t. Plus, my driver is critically injured and her family won’t drop the charges. My good friend Lin Zhiyi will also pursue this. And you committed a hit-and-run."
"Dad, you’re going to jail."
After she finished speaking, Father Chu’s face was ashen.
"You’re really willing to send your father to jail."
"It’s not me; I said I wouldn’t press charges," Chu Yin said coldly.
"You... if you’re not pressing charges, can’t you convince your boss and that assistant’s family to do the same? At worst, give them some money," Father Chu said matter-of-factly.
"I’m afraid that won’t do," Sang Li interjected.
Father Chu frowned, "Who do you think you are? Why do you say it won’t do?"
Sang Li handed over a business card.
"I’m Chu Yin’s boss. The company car she drove is worth three million, and it’s completely totaled. Xiao Zuo, the driver, is also our employee. I’ll hire the best lawyers for her family and pursue responsibility to the end."
"Three million! Why don’t you just go rob instead? The assistant didn’t even die! I said it was an accident!" Father Chu retorted loudly.
"It’s not over yet."
Sang Li spoke while looking at the grim-faced Gong Chen.
Gong Chen said, "I will pursue this to the end for my wife."
Father Chu cursed in anger, "Who the hell are you?"
Seeing this, Li Huan spoke up appropriately.
"Third Young Master, don’t scare the patient."
Father Chu turned to Gong Chen, his face turning pale instantly.
He might not know Sang Li from Hai City, but he definitely recognized the Third Young Master.
"Third, Third Young Master..."
Gong Chen ignored him and directly addressed the police, "Don’t worry, do things by the book."
"Yes."
The police stepped forward to take Father Chu into custody.
"Let’s go."
"No, no... Chu Yin, you can’t let them take me away, I’m your dad! You’re being unfilial!" Father Chu shouted.
Chu Yin got out of bed and walked to Father Chu.
She whispered, "Was it Chu Wu who made you do it? Because she’s afraid I’ll investigate what happened back then. Dad, you think you’re smart, but you’re being used by your most beloved daughter."
"What do you mean?" Father Chu was stunned.
"You’re sick, or did you forget? You probably weren’t feeling well at the time of the accident, too, right? Why would she not worry about you getting into trouble if she’s so filial? Because she’s eager for you to get into trouble like I did, so you’d take the blame alone, just like now."
"Impossible, she’s much more obedient than you."
"Who can’t play-act?" Chu Yin sneered.
