Andrei and Lilith were already seated in the living room when I arrived. Andrei was wearing a crisp white button -down shirt that made his tan skin look even darker, while Lilith was dressed in a sleek golden slip dress that matched her eyes–eyes that followed me like a hawk as I entered the room.

“Sorry to keep you waiting,” I said, taking a seat beside Damon on the couch. Not too close, though. Things were

still tense between us.

“Not at all,” Andrei replied smoothly. “We were just discussing how to strengthen the alliance between our packs.”

“We’ve decided that the best way forward is to encourage more interaction between our pack members,” Damon said. “Since the warriors seem to be getting along so well, we’re thinking of hosting a friendly competition. Games, food, entertainment. A way for our packs to mingle.”

“And with the full moon coming up, it seems like perfect timing,” Lilith said with a grin.

“The full moon?” I asked, a yawn escaping before I could stop it. “Sorry. Why the full moon specifically?”

Lilith’s lips curved into a smirk. “Tired, Luna Natalia? Not sleeping well?”

“I’m fine,” I said shortly. “Just had a long night.”

Damon shifted beside me, and I knew he was thinking about our argument. About what I’d done with Andrei. The air in the room seemed to thicken.

“The full moon,” Andrei said slowly, “is when wolves are most likely to find their fated mates. It’s the perfect time to facilitate new bonds between our packs.”

Right. I suddenly felt utterly stupid. I was so tired that I’d forgotten about that very important part of werewolf life–and suddenly it was no wonder why my wolf had been in heat. Perhaps, once the full moon was over, I could stop taking this damn contraceptive.

“The more our bloodlines mix, the stronger our alliance becomes,” Andrei went on. “So we figured it might be a good chance to facilitate inter–pack breeding.”

“It makes sense,” Damon agreed, glancing at me. “But organizing something like this on short notice won’t be easy,”

“We’ve already started planning,” Lilith cooed, pulling a binder out of the bag sitting by her feet. “We just need Ashmoor to provide the venue and some of the manpower. Moonshadow will handle the rest.

“How generous,” I muttered, another yawn forcing its way out. Goddess, I was tired. The contraceptive was hitting me harder than I’d expected.

Andrei’s eyes narrowed slightly as he watched me, but he said nothing. I avoided his gaze.

“Maybe we could host it in the large meadow along the border,” Damon said. “There’s plenty of space.” He turned to Lilith and Andrei. “What games were you thinking of hosting? Just so I can decide how much space we need.”

Andrei pulled out a notebook and began listing off various competitions—relay races, feats of strength, hunting
