Revenge amnesia upgraded to his brother novel Chapter 18

Chapter 18

Norah’s Perspective

Before Damian could close the distance between us, Lucien’s arm tightened protectively around me, pulling me close to his side. Yet, Damian’s gaze remained fixed solely on me, unwavering and intense.

He forced a smile that was meant to seem gentle but came off as strained. Without hesitation, he grabbed my wrist, his grip surprisingly firm. “Norah, can we talk for a moment?” he demanded.

Ignoring the cold glare shooting from Lucien, Damian nearly yanked me away. The tension between the three of us was thick in the crowded hall.

He dragged me toward a secluded balcony just outside, away from prying eyes and ears.

“Let go, Damian,” I said sharply, trying to shake off his hold. A wave of revulsion bubbled up inside me.

Instead of loosening his grip, he clutched tighter. One hand reached toward my face, but I quickly dodged the touch.

He stopped for a moment, inhaled deeply, and eased his grasp slightly. Still, he stood directly in front of me, blocking any chance of escape.

The fury etched on his face faded rapidly, replaced by the same old, insincere expression of affection I had come to despise.

“Norah,” he said in a sickly sweet, almost pleading voice, “I know you care about me too. Everything that happened before was just a misunderstanding, forced by circumstances… Truth is, I’ve always loved you. It’s always been you.”

I looked back at him with cold, unblinking eyes, feeling my stomach twist painfully.

Coming from him, the word “love” was nothing but a cruel joke.

“Love me?” I scoffed quietly. “Then what about Serena? The woman you’ve been with for five years? The one you so easily discarded? What does she mean to you?”

There wasn’t a trace of guilt on Damian’s face. Instead, his eyes lit up, clearly mistaking my words for jealousy. “Her? No, no, Serena is just a placeholder! Something to pass the time! I don’t love her at all!” He spoke quickly, as if speed could make his lies more believable. “If you want, I can get rid of her right now! This instant!”

Then his tone shifted, becoming more calculating. “But Norah, now’s not the right moment. I still have… some things to settle with her. So…” He stepped closer, eyes gleaming with possessiveness, voice dripping with arrogance, as if he were offering me a prize. “For now, just be my secret lover.”

He smiled as if that was an irresistible offer.

“When I’m done tying up these loose ends, we’ll make it official. Open and honest! By then, all of Paris will know you’re the only woman I, Damian Constantine, love!”

He spoke with such conviction, as if this was some grand, heartfelt promise.

Lost in his own delusions, he didn’t realize how vile and degrading his words were—not only to Serena but to me as well.

I felt my stomach churn and nearly retched at the thought of hearing another word from him.

This man was rotten to his core, beyond any hope of redemption.

I shoved him away fiercely. “I need to use the bathroom.”

Without giving him a chance to grab me again, I turned sharply and hurried down the corridor.

I needed cold water, fresh air—anything to wash away the sick feeling his words had left behind.

At the bathroom door, I caught the faint sounds of gagging and gasps from inside.
