Chapter 34

Lucien’s Perspective

The apartment greeted me with an unsettling silence as I stepped inside. Not a single sound stirred in the air.

“Norah?” I called out, my voice trembling slightly, but the only response was the hollow echo of my own words.

I moved from room to room—the living area, the bedroom, the bathroom—each space barren, devoid of any sign that she had been there. My chest tightened, a cold dread creeping in.

Without hesitation, I pulled out my phone and dialed her number, desperate for any sign of her presence.

But all that reached me was the harsh, impersonal voice of the automated system:
“The subscriber you dialed cannot be connected at the moment.”

I tried again, once, twice, but the result was the same. Frustration boiled over. “Damn it!”

I immediately called my assistant. “Track Norah’s phone. Now. I need to know where she is—no excuses.”

Every second of waiting stretched painfully. Then the call came through.

“Boss, Ms. Hawthorne’s phone signal last appeared near West City Hospital. After that, it disappeared completely.”

My heart skipped wildly. “The hospital? Get me the surveillance footage from every camera around there. Mobilize all available resources—I want every angle checked, no matter what it takes.”

The minutes crawled by like hours. When the footage finally arrived, my blood ran ice cold.

On the screen, I saw Norah and Serena sprinting in terror, two shadowy figures clad in black chasing them relentlessly.

Then Damian materialized, blocking their escape at an alley’s end.

He struck Norah down, rendering her unconscious, and dragged her into a waiting black van.

“Damian!” I roared, the glass in my hand shattering under my grip.

“Find that van. Use every connection—legal or otherwise. I don’t care how you do it—I want her location in five minutes.”

My entire network sprang into action. Money, influence, power—I poured everything I had into the search.

Finally, a location blinked on my phone screen: an abandoned villa on the city’s outskirts.

Grabbing my keys, I stormed out without a second thought.

The engine growled beneath me as I sped toward the villa, my mind consumed by one desperate hope: Hold on, Norah. I’m coming for you.

I tore through the streets, tires screeching as I skidded to a halt outside the crumbling villa.

Suddenly, the sharp crack of breaking glass echoed from within.

Norah. It had to be her.

Every ounce of restraint shattered inside me.

I charged forward and kicked the villa’s door open with a force born of rage and fear.

The door slammed to the floor with a thunderous crash.

What I saw next froze the blood in my veins.

Norah lay on a filthy bed, naked and trembling, tears streaking down her pale cheeks. Her eyes were vacant, distant.

And Damian—the vile bastard—loomed over her, poised to violate her.

“Lucien…?” He spun around, panic flashing across his face.
