Chapter 33
“Brody” A sharp, crisp voice called out, and Brody turned around to see his sister, Renata Walker, striding toward him
Renata had always been beautiful, but today, with her flawless makeup and radiant attire, she was even more stunning.
However, compared to Valerie’s ethereal grace and Kelly’s playful charm, Renata’s beauty was more aggressive, almost confrontational in its sharpness
Renata had a reputation for being difficult and spoiled. Even Brody’s long time friends, Billy Jenkins arid Alonso Gregory, who had known him for years. wouldn’t dare cross her, especially when her face was twisted in such obvious fury.
She stormed over, holding up the skirt of her dress in a huff. “You saw Kelly, right?” she snapped.
Brody, who had learned over the years to placate Renata, sighed. “Yeah, I saw her.”
Renata’s anger flared. “Before she showed up, I was the one getting all the attention. Now she walks in with that girl by her side, clearly trying to make,
me look bad. That little bitch, every time I see her smug face, it drives me mad!”
Brody, trying to calm the situation, suggested, “She’s already here. You can’t change that now. It might be better to think of a way to deal with her, instead of just stewing over it. The auction’s about to start, and there’s a cocktail party afterward, you know?”
Renata sneered, her expression colder than ever. “You don’t need to tell me. I’ve already got a plan. Kelly’s always so full of herself. Let’s see how tough she really is.”
Valerie, on the other hand, had always kept to a small circle in her past life. She never imagined that, in this new life, she’d end up expanding her social circle in such an unexpected way.
After being pulled into the group by Tinley, she found herself reluctantly joining a circle of women gossiping away.
There’s an old saying: the best way to bond with a group of women is to share a secret.
But Valerie had no interest in hearing secrets.
Standing there, she overheard gossip about one girl whose boyfriend was apparently poor, with no money at all, and someone else whose son had gotten a girl pregnant, leading to an awkward confrontation with the parents. The details were embarrassing, to say the least.
Surprisingly, Valerie found herself getting drawn into the gossip, her curiosity piqued, listening intently.
As the chatter went on, the group’s bond strengthened, and they exchanged WhatsApp numbers.
Though much of what they were talking about was already known, it still gave Valerie a lot to think about.
By the time the auction was set to begin, the women were still buzzing with excitement. The seating arrangements for the event were based on family rank, and Valerie, representing David and Aiden’s line, was naturally placed in the first row.
As soon as they sat down, they attracted the attention of many people in the room.
Valerie’s striking beauty and the prominent spot they occupied made her a center of focus, with whispers spreading quickly about who she was.
Unfazed, Valerie calmly opened the auction catalogue, her demeanor graceful and composed.
Luckily, several items on the auction list caught her interest.
As the first three items sold without a hitch, the fourth item was announced, and Kelly immediately perked up, clearly interested.
The starting bid for the fourth item was 30,000 dollars, but it quickly climbed to 100,000 dollars.
Kelly raised her paddle, declaring, “120 thousand dollars.”

Others in the crowd, though intrigued, hesitated, as the bid had escalated far beyond expectations.
The auctioneer noticed the hesitation and grinned, “120 thousand dollars, anyone else? 120 thousand dollars once, 120 thousand dollars twice.
120 thousand dollars, plus 100 dollars,” a voice called out from behind Valerie.
Valerie turned her head, glancing over her shoulder.
Her gaze met a pair of eyes filled with resentment, and the challenge was clear without a word being spoken.
Kelly, annoyed, leaned over and whispered to Valerie, “That’s Renata, my cousin. She’s Wesley’s daughter. She’s always had it out for me because she’s not as pretty as I am, and her figure doesn’t compare. She’s always been jealous.
“And now, sitting in the second row while we’re in the front, she’s probably furious. She’s trouble, and very petty, so be careful. Don’t get into a confrontation with her–she’s hard to deal with.”
It wasn’t just hard to deal with–Renata had made Kelly’s life miserable in the past, even stealing Kelly’s fiancé just before her wedding, causing a huge scandal.
