"Colby... It really is Colby..."
Colby marched into the prison, his boots echoing with a heavy thud on the floor. The guards, caught off guard, stumbled back in panic.
What was this grim reaper doing here out of the blue? They'd never heard a peep about his arrival before.
His eyes, at this moment, were icy and unsettling. The guards exchanged uneasy glances, swallowing hard. In Summerfield, Odie was their biggest fear. The second was this Colby, whose reputation preceded him.
Because of a pact between Odie and Colby, Colby never set foot on Odie's turf. So, they'd never had the chance to meet this fabled figure. But now, seeing Colby in the flesh, they were too petrified to move.
"Colby..."
"Move."
Colby uttered the word with a cold indifference, clearly not in the mood to waste time on the two guards. They scurried away, tripping over themselves.
"Hold it!"
The word froze them in their tracks.
"Go, but leave the keys."
Colby's voice had a chill to it, and the guards hurriedly left the cell keys behind. Colby made his way to Sophie's cell door, unlocking it with the keys. He rushed to check on her, anxiety etched on his face: "Sophie, are you hurt anywhere?"
Sophie looked at him, about to speak, when Gina's voice came from outside: "Ms. Sophie, are you alright? Don't worry, I've already sorted things out with the folks outside! We can leave now!"
If someone had told her this on the day Sophie had Colby on his knees, Gina might've bought it. But she was already under Colby's thumb, thanks to some drugs. How could they still be acting?
But soon, Gina noticed the prison was packed with surveillance cameras. Realizing this was all for The Silent Shadows' eyes, she stiffly said, "Ms. Sophie, you've got it all wrong, Mr. Colby and I are just friends..."
"Innocent? I heard Ms. Gina's been trailing you all the way to Devonport, joined at the hip."
Sophie jeered, "But he's just a toy I tossed aside. Giving him to Ms. Gina is no skin off my back. Besides, I don't need him to save me."
"Ms. Sophie! That's harsh! How could you say that?"
Gina stepped forward, initially reaching for Colby's arm, but his piercing glare stopped her cold. Trying to mask her fear, she said, "Mr. Colby, after everything she's said, why come all this way to save her? Let's get out of here!"

Awaiting new chapters plzzz...
when will new chapters release??...
Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
Excellent novel!...
When will you upload the next chapter...
