Everyone instinctively averted their gazes.
Such scenes had become all too common.
Sophie smiled and said, "Don't worry about me."
"I know."
"I'll be back soon."
"I'll be waiting."
Colby ran his fingers through Sophie's hair.
Sophie smiled back.
Finally, she and Jonah entered the dense forest one after the other.
Watching this, Jenna couldn't help but show a look of concern on her face.
Who knows... what might happen to them once they're inside.
"Jenna, don't worry. Even if Reece is a traitor, he wouldn't hurt Sophie."
"How can you be so sure? You can never know what's in a person's heart. What if Reece turns out to be a villain?"
If he wasn't a villain, why would he betray his friends?
Jenna knew how much Sophie trusted Reece.
Two years of friendship, they had weathered life and death situations together at S Corporation.
It was a bond forged in the fires of adversity.
As the two of them silently prayed, Adler's peripheral vision suddenly caught Colby heading towards the forest.
"Colby! Where are you going?"
"Colby!"
Jenna's face went pale.
She had guessed that the Aldridge family had created an artificial magnetic disturbance, but this time it might not be the case.
"Ms. Sophie, we are just five hundred meters away from the designated location."
Hearing this distance, Sophie was stunned: "Only five hundred meters?"
They had been walking for about thirty minutes, and Sophie thought they must have covered at least a kilometer, but it turned out to be only five hundred meters.
"When we entered, I counted our steps. In this half-hour, we took about seven thousand steps, but indeed, we have only covered five hundred meters from our target location."
The dense forest blocked out the sun, and Jonah looked at the time, saying, "By my estimate, it will be dark in two hours. We have to find the designated location within these two hours, Ms. Sophie. Can you keep up?"
"No problem."
Jonah glanced at Sophie by his side. Compared to men, women indeed tend to have less physical strength.
The road conditions here were poor, and the physical exertion was astonishing.

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
