"You'll have plenty of time to catch up with your dad in prison."
Sophie’s face was a picture of calm.
She'd done her duty by this so-called brother—no blood ties—twenty years ago.
But now, she needed to know how Isaac had gotten his hands on the powder from The Silent Shadows.
"Does this ring a bell?"
She set the packet of powder down in front of Isaac.
"Haven't you guys figured it all out by now? What more do you want from me?" Isaac shot back, his voice icy. "Yeah, I developed it. So what? I just wanted to make a bit of cash to get by. You all took everything from me—I had to survive somehow, didn’t I?"
"Is it really that cut and dried?"
Sophie smirked and went on, "Where exactly did you get this stuff? Was it from The Silent Shadows' old digs, or somewhere else? If you don’t spill, I’ve got ways to make you talk."
With that, Sophie switched off the surveillance camera in the room.
"That year, I was flat broke, so I visited my dad in prison. He told me about The Silent Shadows. Back then, they were gunning for the Russell family, and my dad had a hand in Emerson’s fatal car accident. So... he told me to hit them up for cash and find a way to bust him out. But they blew me off and kicked me out. After that, I wandered around aimlessly."
At this point, Isaac shot Sophie a look filled with venom and said:
"My mom died, and my life went down the drain, so I wanted us all to crash and burn together. That day, I tailed you and saw you drive into the mountains. Then there was this earthquake-like thing, and I got knocked out. When I came to, I found all sorts of stuff in the ruins. That's when I figured out it was The Silent Shadows' powder. This stuff brings massive highs, and I spent twenty years researching it, making a tidy fortune. But in the end, I still couldn’t beat you. It all comes down to... Sophie, you were just lucky! If I had a little more time, I would have..."
"Even if I gave you a hundred years, it wouldn't matter."
Sophie said coldly, "What you’ve done is enough to keep you behind bars for life. Make peace with that."

Awaiting new chapters plzzz...

Enjoying the story, to much victimising Sophie, they could at least try to target others. Hope at some point Sophie comes clean and forgives James and explain her view of loving the boy James was. Just so they both learn and move on. Really needs to be some consequences for the instigators instead of being let go. Sandy needs to see Vanessa is using her as a cover, and Sandy needs to wake up to herself, or be held responsible by her father for alienating the people she was supposed to make contact with. Hope the reporter brother is keeping an eye on what Vanessa and Odie are up to, and that he has he’s own justice in store. Hope he becomes like Reese a good partner. Hope James lives and finds he’s HEA. Need to put Nicole in prison , no release and several lifetimes , with all the evidence on the crimes she’s committed just to get her out of the way guilt free. More about what’s up with Gordon....
Excellent novel!...
When will you upload the next chapter...
