The exam was scheduled for two hours, but Anastasia didn’t want to keep Harrison waiting. She handed in her paper after just forty minutes.
As she walked out of the building, a group of paparazzi clutching cameras spotted her, their eyes lighting up with excitement.
“Look! Is that her?”
“It really is Anastasia. She actually showed up to take the test! Is she not embarrassed at all?”
“How is she out so soon? Can anyone finish the exam in that little time?”
“What a joke—she probably didn’t know any of the answers. I bet she just wrote her name and left…”
“Hurry up, don’t let her get away!”
Anastasia noticed the cluster of paparazzi instantly. When she saw them moving in for the ambush, her gaze turned cold, lashes lifting ever so slightly.
But before she could react, two teams of well-trained security guards appeared out of nowhere, blocking the paparazzi several steps away. One of them spoke respectfully, “Ma’am, your car is ready.”
Anastasia nodded, her eyes drifting to the car waiting just ahead. The corners of her lips curved in a small smile and, picking up her pace, she headed over with a light, almost buoyant step.
Inside the car, Harrison was right where she’d left him, a laptop open in front of him. The moment she climbed in, he closed the computer.
With her nearby, he couldn’t concentrate on anything else.
“Darling, you really stayed here the whole time?” Anastasia threw herself into his arms the second she got in, her voice a mix of delight and concern. “It’s freezing out. You could’ve waited for me in the hotel lobby, you know.”
Harrison wrapped his arms around her. “The car’s got heating. I’m perfectly comfortable.”
Anastasia frowned prettily. “But it’s so cramped in here. You must have been so stuffy.”
Hearing the worry in her voice, Harrison’s lips quirked up. “It’s fine. Really.”
Before she could argue, he changed the subject. “How did you finish so fast?”
“I didn’t want you to wait too long,” she answered without hesitation.
Harrison couldn’t help but laugh, half exasperated, half amused. He gently pinched her soft earlobe. “That’s the only reason you rushed? Did you finish all the questions?”
