A convoy of cars pulled up to the gate, flanked by vehicles full of bodyguards. The guards stepped out first, moving to open the doors of the two cars in the center.
The family matriarch was helped out of one, while Harrison emerged from the other.
Crystal glanced shyly at her mother, Susan, who offered a gentle, encouraging smile and gave her a little push forward.
Taking a deep breath, Crystal was about to approach Harrison, but he didn't head toward them as expected. Instead, he turned back to his car and extended a hand.
Everyone froze. Was there someone else in the car?
A moment later, a slender, elegant hand reached out and rested in Harrison’s. He then helped a young woman step out, a woman whose stunning looks and extraordinary presence immediately captured everyone’s attention.
The entire family stared, speechless.
*Who is she?*
Before anyone could ask, the matriarch’s voice, full of warmth, broke the silence. “Ana, dear, are you tired?”
Anastasia’s curious gaze swept over the Lancaster family as she replied sweetly, “No, Grandmother, I’m not tired at all.”
*Grandmother?*
She called the matriarch ‘Grandmother,’ was personally helped from the car by Harrison, and was still holding his hand.
Who *was* this woman?
“Harrison,” Todd said with a broad smile, being the first to speak up. “And who is this lovely lady?”
“This is Ana,” Harrison stated calmly. “My wife.”
His words hit the assembled Lancasters like a splash of cold water on a hot skillet. Everyone was stunned.
The group entered the house. The family patriarch, Mr. Lancaster Sr., hadn't gone out to greet his grandson due to his poor health, but he had been waiting eagerly inside. The moment Harrison walked in, a smile spread across the old man’s face as he reclined on the sofa.
“You’re back.”
Harrison’s expression softened. He squeezed Anastasia’s hand and led her forward.
“Grandfather, I’m back. This is Ana.”
“Good, good.” Mr. Lancaster Sr. was typically a stern man, but he had always shown a deep affection for his most accomplished grandson.
Now, looking at Anastasia, his voice softened even more, his eyes filled with an undeniable fondness. While the rest of the family had been kept in the dark, the old man had known about Harrison’s marriage from the start, including the fact that Anastasia had been the one to treat his illness. He had already grown to adore his new granddaughter-in-law before they had even met.
Following Harrison’s lead, Anastasia politely greeted him with a soft, “Grandfather.” Harrison then proceeded to introduce her to the rest of the family, one by one, and she began to get a sense of the Lancaster family structure.
