Monica frowned. “Who’s Marcus?”

“Get who out of here?” a smooth, leisurely male voice cut in.

Everyone turned to see a remarkably handsome man approaching, flanked by two assistants. He had a charming smile and a roguish air about him—the quintessential playboy.

The guards immediately straightened up. “Mr. Jackson!”

Monica was utterly bewildered. She stared, wide-eyed, at Anastasia standing so comfortably beside Marcus Jackson.

She really knew him? And they were obviously close!

“Oh? And who is this?” Marcus asked, raising an eyebrow.

A guard hurried over, nervously explaining, “Sir, this young lady said she is Mr. Lancaster’s girlfriend. She and… and your guest had a misunderstanding.”

“A misunderstanding?” Marcus prompted.

Anastasia shot him a look. He wasn’t a fool; he knew exactly what had happened. He was just enjoying this. But since he was clearly taking her side, she was happy to play along and watch the show.
