Anastasia walked out calmly, knowing that her bid to become Gideon’s apprentice would likely fail.
In her past life, she had first studied under Bruno, but he eventually felt he couldn't teach her alone and thought of Gideon.
However, Gideon had looked down on her, rejecting her outright and taking Queena as his student instead, claiming Queena was his ideal apprentice.
This was because Queena had supposedly cured several impossibly difficult cases, cementing her reputation as a genius.
But no one knew that the person who had actually cured those patients was her. Queena was nothing more than a shameless thief!
After Anastasia left, Gideon shook his head. “I only agreed to see her because you were singing her praises to the high heavens. But if these are her only accomplishments, I’m afraid it’s not enough to convince me.”
Bruno continued to plead her case. “She’s young, so of course she doesn’t have a long list of achievements. But her talent is undeniable. If you have doubts, you can test her right here and now.”
Gideon considered it for a moment, but still refused.
Bruno sensed something was amiss. “Even if she doesn’t meet your expectations, she’s still exceptionally gifted. Yet you won’t even consider her. Have you already chosen another apprentice?”
Gideon admitted it freely. “That’s right.”
“Who is it?”
“I don’t know her identity yet; I’m still investigating,” Gideon said. Seeing Bruno’s confusion, he continued, “You must have heard that Mr. Harrison Lancaster has been cured, right?”
“What? Cured?” Bruno was astonished.
It was worth noting that although Anastasia frequented the Austin family, she had never deliberately mentioned her relationship with Harrison.
