Chapter 9 I’m Not the Cheater
Bettie went to the hospital and brought the lunch back, untouched. Just then, Seymour and Ambrose returned to the villa. He asked. “Has she
caten?”
Bettie smiled awkwardly. “Mr. Lucero, when I delivered it, Mrs. Lucero had already ordered her meal.”
Seymour furrowed his brow slightly. “How could takeaway be any better than homemade food?”
Having overheard the conversation, Yvonne sneered coldly. “Seymour, I’ve already told you that your wife has gotten more and more spoiled. Her temper is getting worse.
“See? She only gave birth to a daughter, yet she acts like our entire family owes her something.”
“Mom,” Seymour pinched his brow. “Please don’t.”
Ambrose was there, too.
Ambrose was very curious. “Grandma, why doesn’t Mom like the homemade food?”
“Isn’t it because your mom is spoiled? Oh, my dear, you’ve lost weight.”
Ambrose hopped onto the scale and exclaimed, “Grandma, I really did lose weight! One kilo!
“Grandma, when are we having dinner? Ambi’s hungry!”
Yvonne pushed a cart of snacks in front of her grandson. “Grandma
Chadhei & Pen Nat the Che
specially picked these out for you today. I’ve checked every ingredient. and these are all things you can eat.”
“Yay! Grandma is the best!”
That was how kids were. They changed their favorite person every single
day.
The person who fed them snacks or let them watch TV would become their favorite of the day.
It wouldn’t last long, though.
“Mom. why didn’t you go with Bettie to the hospital to visit Felicia?”
Yvonne rolled her eyes. “You didn’t go, either. Why should I bother to? That day she snapped at me, and I’m still mad about it.”
Seymour pursed his lips, feeling upset that Yvonne didn’t go to visit Felicia while he was busy with the child.
“Just stop worrying. Maybe her family has visited her. Maybe your parents–in–law have already been.
“Seymour, it’s just having a baby. Don’t overreact. Women can be pampered, but they shouldn’t be spoiled.
“You see? When they are spoiled too much, they learn to throw tantrums at you.”
Seymour’s eyes flickered as he remembered the divorce talk Felicia had brought up that night.
“Got it, Mom. I’m heading to the study.”
But when it came to dinner time, Yvonne faced a dilemma.
“My good little darling, we hired a new chef. Isn’t there anything you like?”
Ambrose pouted. “Grandma, this food is so bad. I don’t want to eat it. What chef? It’s not even as good as what Mom makes.”
They were no equals.
He frowned, “Grandma, when is Mom coming home?”
This was the second time in the past few days that Ambrose had asked that question.
Yvonne hadn’t expected Ambrose to be so spoiled. Just then, Seymour came downstairs.
“Sey, what should we do?“.
Just a moment ago, Yvonne had been complaining about Felicia, but now she wished she could bring her back home immediately.
“Tomorrow will be the fourth day; usually the fourth day is when she can. be discharged. How about we bring Felicia and the baby home tomorrow? She can rest at home, and the nanny can look after the baby.
“Look at that maternity nurse she hired. She looks like a country bumpkin, and her accent is strong.”
Yvonne was extremely picky. She disapproved of the maternity nurse Felicia had hired.
Yvonne wanted Felicia back so that she could cook for Ambi.
In these past two or three days, she struggled a lot to make food for Ambi.
Seymour pondered for a moment. “Mom, I need to handle some business matters in the morning, but I’ll be at the hospital by 10. You can go see
LA NOU the Chekker
Felicia first, and I’ll come later.”
He added, “Tell Bettie to make breakfast and bring it over in the morning. It’s safer to eat food made at home.”
Reluctantly, Yvonne agreed. “Got it.”
The next morning. Bettie got the breakfast ready early.
In the hospital. Darrick was there, too. Looking at the old man glaring at her, Felicia smiled helplessly. “Mr. Jackson.”
Darrick frowned, “Oh, you told Galvan but didn’t tell me? Do you still remember that I’m your teacher?”
Darrick was a renowned figure in the field of traditional medicine and also Felicia’s teacher.
Few people could integrate modern and traditional medicine so well, so both the Genesis Clinic and the laboratory wanted Felicia.
Finally, Felicia had no choice but to agree to go to the laboratory on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and the Genesis Clinic on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. She had Sunday off.
But this time, when she returned, she only informed Galvan and didn’t tell Darrick. This made him very upset.
“I don’t know what’s good about that lab. You see? Most of Galvan’s apprentices are bald. What if you go bald too? That would be awful!
“I think you should come to our Genesis Clinic. Just drop your schedule and come for five days each week at Genesis Clinic ”
Felicia smiled awkwardly. “Mrs. Jackson, that wouldn’t be appropriate, would it?”
“What’s inappropriate about it? Don’t worry about what he thinks. He just took on another batch of strange apprentices this year. They’re not short of people in the lab!”
Felicia laughed awkwardly, feeling conflicted.
She suddenly felt that her breakfast wasn’t so appetizing anymore.
“Mr. Jackson, the food you brought is really delicious!”
Darrick was
ingredients are, modest. “Of course. I made it for you and all the
ingredients are the best of their kind!”
Darrick went on talking for a long time before Felicia finally said she would think about it. Darrick, frustrated, almost exploded.
“I’ll give you a month. By the time your confinement period ends, I expect an answer. Don’t think you can just brush me off, Licia!”
With that, Darrick left with his two apprentices.
One apprentice stayed a bit longer to pick up the lunch box and bumped. into Yvonne, who was there to visit Felicia.
“Felicia, who was that young man who just left your room?” Yvonne asked sternly.
Felicia merely raised an eyebrow. “You can think of him as a delivery
man.”
Yvonne wasn’t fooled. There was no way a delivery man would be dressed like that. Although she only glanced at him, she noticed the bracelet on his wrist was kind of expensive.
Her face darkened. “Felicia, you aren’t cheating on Seymour with him, are you?”
11
Felicia was speechless. She had never met anyone as unreasonable as her mother–in–law.
Yvonne, do you have some kind of delusion?”
She pulled out her phone and showed Yvonne a photo. “Look. I’m not the cheater.”
It was a photo of Mable. Seymour, and Ambrose. They looked just like a family of three.
