Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 272

Bennett was... undeniably tough to deal with. From the bouts Julian had with him since Bennett officially took over Locke Group, it was clear—the man was ruthless, shrewd, and always three steps ahead. His power far exceeded Julian’s expectations.

Julian liked to think of himself as swift and decisive, but every purge and adjustment he orchestrated ended up being casually dismantled by Bennett—as if it took no effort at all. Sometimes, Bennett even managed to turn Julian’s own moves against him.

Yet all this only fueled Julian’s competitive streak.

He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose, his tone turning cautious. “We haven’t found any leverage on him yet. But…”

“But what?” Yale pressed, not missing a beat.

Julian hesitated, then voiced his concern. “He’s been... a little too quiet lately. Hasn’t shown up at Boyd Group headquarters for several days now—he’s keeping a low profile. Even our people on the inside haven’t managed to dig up anything concrete. I checked travel records too—no sign he’s left the country.”

Yale listened, absentmindedly rubbing his thumb along the warm rim of his teacup. His gaze grew distant and inscrutable. “This Bennett... he’s even tougher to handle than his short-lived father. Deeper, harder to read.”

A shadow flickered across Yale’s face—an odd mix of bitterness and malice. “Over the years, the traps and ‘accidents’ we set up for him—he sidestepped every one. Not a scratch on him. The man’s meticulous, his methods merciless. No obvious weaknesses at all—he’s like a fortress.”

As Yale spoke, his other hand drifted to a gold ring on his thumb. The style was old-fashioned, even gaudy—a strange choice for a man of his stature—but he always wore it.

He paused, lips curling into a cold, almost sinister smile, as if a dangerous idea had just occurred to him. His voice dropped, words chilling and certain. “Except...”

A low chuckle, full of implication and dark confidence, hung in the air—a predator savoring the scent of his prey’s vulnerability.

Suddenly, something clicked for Julian. He looked up sharply. “Dad—one more thing. The person I sent to tail Bennett reported he’s got a woman with him.”

“A woman?” Yale’s cloudy eyes narrowed, a glint of interest breaking through.

He vaguely recalled Bennett mentioning something about a woman once, but had assumed it was just a smokescreen to fend off those marriage questions he’d been pestered with. He hadn’t taken it seriously.

But now? Was Bennett actually seeing someone?

Yale cast a final glance around the office, as if his gaze could pierce through walls and land on the rival who haunted his every thought. His tone was low and foreboding. “I’m heading home. Keep a close watch on things here. I don’t want any more slip-ups.”

With that, he leaned on his cane and made his way out, his steps steady but weighted with age and calculation.

The door closed softly behind him, leaving Julian alone with his thoughts. His father’s words pressed down on him like a mountain.

They had to find Bennett’s woman.

She might be his only weakness.

And as for Gwyneth… Julian was determined to have her.

After all, everyone knew Julian had always been her hopeless, loyal shadow.
