Revenge Wears My Ring novel Chapter 307

“I told you not to wait for us, didn’t I? It’s cold out here—come inside, quickly!”

Mr. and Mrs. Harrison stood at the gate, warm, genuine smiles lighting up their faces. They responded to him with practiced, cheerful gestures in sign language:

“It’s all right, it’s all right. We wanted to wait for you. We’re not cold at all.”

Their eyes traveled past Bennett, landing on Gwyneth as she stepped out of the car. Their smiles grew even kinder and brighter. With animated hands, they signed a heartfelt welcome to her as well.

A wave of warmth rushed through Gwyneth’s chest.

She walked forward. Bennett watched, a bit surprised, as she raised her hands, a little awkward but determined, and signed back to Mr. and Mrs. Harrison:

“Thank you. Thank you for waiting for us.”

Her movements weren’t perfect, but her meaning was clear.

Bennett was left momentarily stunned. He stared at Gwyneth, amazed at her ability to sign even those simple words, then watched as Mr. and Mrs. Harrison broke into broad grins at her earnest, if clumsy, effort, waving their hands in delighted dismissal.

Mrs. Harrison, overjoyed, reached over to take Gwyneth’s hand, patting it affectionately. Then she turned to Bennett, giving him a big thumbs-up, her eyes shining with joy and approval.

Snapping out of it, Bennett glanced at Gwyneth with a deep, complicated look.

When did she learn sign language? Was it… for him?

He didn’t ask, but his gaze softened, and he instinctively shifted to shield Gwyneth as they followed the beaming Harrisons into the cozy, fragrant house.

Inside, the dining table was already covered with a lavish spread of hearty, home-cooked dishes. Steam curled up from the plates, filling the room with warmth and mouthwatering aromas, all waiting for their arrival.

The lively, welcoming atmosphere of the Harrisons’ home was worlds apart from the cold, scheming tension of the old Locke family estate.

The Harrisons’ warmth and sincerity, the simple yet generous meal, and the laughter around the table—everything made Gwyneth finally relax, the tension in her shoulders melting away.

She ate heartily, even going back for a rare second helping.

Once everyone was full, Gwyneth got up to help clear the dishes. Mr. and Mrs. Harrison protested, but with her and Bennett insisting, they finally relented and let them lend a hand.

After everything was tidied up, Bennett said to her, “Let’s go for a walk—help us digest all that food.”

The neighborhood was calm and peaceful at night, a far cry from the rush and noise of downtown.

Streetlights stretched their shadows long across the pavement. Gwyneth and Bennett walked side by side, the quiet between them easy and comfortable.

They passed a small cart selling candied fruit skewers. Gwyneth’s gaze was immediately drawn to the glossy, ruby-red fruit glistening under the sugar shell. Her eyes lingered, sparkling with childlike delight.

Not missing her subtle longing, Bennett chuckled, stepped forward, and bought the biggest, brightest skewer, handing it to her with a grin.
